That's how it happens man.

One minute you're a filthy poser pretending to have a waifu, nudging elbows with all the other posters who are getting the joke. Not believing that anyone really has a waifu, we're all just making fun of the Japanese. "Us ronrey anons, right? Eh? Eh?"

And to keep up the joke you start collecting images of your "waifu", taking screenshots of her animu/game and searching danbooru or pixiv for fan art of her. Just to post in waifu threads of course but hey that image is pretty cute and that one is really quite heart warming...

A year later you've got an external harddrive to hold all your favorite images that's getting full and you scowl everytime you see someone talking about who they think will be their waifu this season as if these girls are to be discarded so casually.

But you would never be so unfaithful.
