Echidnas have a four-headed penis, its two sides used alternately in copulation. Its sperm is bizarre in that it combines together into large bundles in groups of 100, those super robot sperm can then more effectively navigate through the female and better compete with other sperm (think Gundam Fight, except with sperm). Their mating ritual is equally outlandish, males form "trains" of up to ten individuals trailing after a single female, but females only mate once - the remaining nine males have to find another mate to track.

They are made yet weirder by the fact that males of the short-beaked echidna have no less than 9 sex chromosomes, while females have ten. A male of this species, thus, is 2n = 63, XYXYXYXYX; while a female is 64, XXXXXXXXXX.
