Doesn't make them less young at heart. I couldn't imagine having a normal conversation with Yukari, Kanako or Eirin. But Yuyuko and Byakuren act their appearance, even if they are eccentric.

Remember, most youkai are old as dirt. Tewi is older than 90% of the cast.

As for my mother... well...
My mother served in a profession most prefer to avoid. Perhaps among the hardest and most despised work in society, but yet, utterly vital for its survival. She's sacrificed much that others may live and lead safer and healthier lives, in a profession of endless hard work, constant stress, zero error tolerance and utterly draconic discipline. For forty years of her life, she saw people die every day and screams,wailing and presence of death were her only companions at work. Now she's prematurely retired with no reward or recognition other than a bad hip and nightmares, and a lifetime of prescription painkillers.

It sucks being a nurse.

My mom worked as a pediatrician for quite a long time before moving to head medical at the local community college, and I can certainly say one benefit is the amount of health knowledge available. If I get any kind of symptoms - inflamed uvula, flaking skin, poor digestion - her network of friends and acquaintances gained through work will be able to figure out what it is and what should be done within a few hours. And with my brothers getting all sorts of injuries, she'd be able to patch them up or get them to the right people ASAP before a battered eye socket, broken jaw, chemical burn, or (just once) knotted intestine got out of hand.
