ZUN made a minor touhou-themed game in 2008 where you play as Patchouli and just shoot at random stuff, but it's simple as hell and has no story so nobody gave a shit about it. All I know is that it has Shinki from Mystic Square in it, but I haven't played that far because I don't really care.

I agree with this while asking a question : is 13th Edition a bullet game or a combat game? Is it already specified? When I meant theses characters, it was a playable character in a shoot'em up game. If it's a combat game, I want Fujiwara no Mokou, for damn sure.

He "made" it to a certain extent, he provided all relevant content to a preexisting engine. It would be dishonest to say that he wasn't responsible for what goes where, DNA only did the mechanics.

Think of it like RPG maker; if you add all your own content and only use the engine then the folks who wrote RPG maker wouldn't be responsible for what all goes on in the game - bottom line that ZUN is in fact responsible for what all is in it.

Pity the engine sucks, that part isn't ZUN's fault though.

I never tried to predict Touhou plots either, however ZUN is getting more and more consistent with the plot of his games recently, so I wouldn't be surprised if he wanted to continue that business with the Moriya Shrine.

It's interesting to analyze what about this track makes it "ZUN-like" besides the soundfonts.

The most obvious thing, I think, is the way that different tracks echo each other. If you listen carefully, almost every single voice in the composition echos or responds to the action of a previous one. This builds until around around ~0:56, where the responses build into multiple different melodies being played simultaneously -- but all in sync with each other.

Choosing your source of sounds is important, but not too important - ZUN seems to have been picking up more tools for himself over the years so he's not stuck with a simple selection.

1) Type ZUN style into youtube search.
2) Look up music from games you haven't paid as much attention to, especially PC-98. ZUN's style can be found all the way back to TH01.
3) Look it up; ZUN simply uses a lot of somewhat rigidly defined guidelines for himself which have probably been clearly identified by other people in the past. This is part of why his style has been so well-developed even in his early days.

Kasen is more like Lunarians, able to achieve longevity by purifying herself. The difference is, Lunarians simply shelter themselves from Earth's impurity, while staying alive as a hermit requires a whole lot of work.
