I despise the terms "scanlate" and "scanlator" for manga groups.

We already have words to describe the process of converting text from one language to another--just use the terms "translate" and "translator".

Stop the idiocy.

Scanlation is the term used to describe the combined process of scanning, translating, cleaning, and typesetting manga. If you give a shit about the semantics you are a tremendous faggot who should probably go back to /a/.

You sound like an autistic.

>> No.6331323

well, doesn't that refer to the fact they scanned the manga with a scanner onto their computer to edit the picture so other people can read the translation?

So anime groups should call themselves ripalators, encodalators, subtitalators, and distribulators?

Publishers of translated books should call themselves printalators, book-bindalators, type-setalators, and edilators?

It's stupid.

Found your problem right there. YOU despise something. If only you were the king of the universe and had the power to change it. You aren't. You don't. I suppose shitting up /jp/ is the next best thing

If you are demanding that terms should accurately reflect their etiology in their semantics then I suggest you first start with the "driveway / parkway" clusterfuck, then work your way on to how can it be possible to have "civil" wars, how "inflammable" and "flammable" can mean the same thing, etc.
Let us know when you hear from people in charge of the English language. I am sure they are listed.

Driveway - You drive on it to get to the garage, you don't park on it
Parkway - The grass strip in the middle? That the park.
Civil - Occurring among fellow citizens
Inflammable - Something that can be inflamed.
Flammable - Closer to the Latin root, but means the same thing.

I will get to fuck bossu.

I think you mean "/jp/", you ignorant troglodyte.

I deduce that heavy alcohol consumption and recreational drug use were the hallmarks of your prenatal development.

Probably grew up to be a scanlator.

No, you are discussing something stupid and related to manga, which belong to the Anime & Manga board know as /a/, since it's specifically made for Anime and Manga.

Please remove yourself from this board.

I don't mind being insulted, but I refuse to be insultalated or typalated or even replyalated.

Don't make up retarded words as if no one has ever translated text before. Most "scanlators" don't even scan the manga themselves--they download them from Japanese sources.

>> No.6331952

What I like even better is those who insist "scanslation" is more correct.
