But that's incredibly subjective. I mean, a lot of people like Clannad and I think Planetarian is a great tearjerker. There are a bunch of good Zigzag VNs that are really short and sweet, like The Noose. Just pick one and try it out.

There are a number of Kinetic Novels or VNs without choices, but most VNs with choices are eroge or have an eroge version, because theres no reason to interact with the opposite sex except for sex. The same goes for VNs, theres no reason to interact unless theres porn.
