I want to become famous like Zun. Where do I begin?

>> No.6243384

Make a game that's addictive and appeals to all skill levels. Now make some or all of the characters be cute little girls. Market it somehow. You'll have a surefire win.

Okay, so I need to make a game. Alright. What skills do I need to master to make a game?

>> No.6243423

You have to be totally high as hell on some drugs while you're doing all this, OP.

ZUN hallucinates up rad shit from drinking gallons of beer. If I may, I suggest you buy some Colt 45 40oz bottles and go from there.

I get the feeling that you don't belong here.

Well, I've got enough free time, might as well put it to some use.

Should I brush up my art skills or my programming skills first?

>> No.6243450

>>6243444
First art. Make the concept art so you'd know what your ideas are.

Then work on programming a game engine. Or base it on something open source. There should be plenty of those out there.

Okay, good. I was planning on improving my artistic ability anyway, so I might as well work on that now. How long do you think I'll need to grind before I can get started on anything serious?

>> No.6243483

>>6243462
Don't stop practicing art until you can make good and detailed pictures. But don't worry too much about time consumption and effort. Even ZUN-level art is enough, apparently.

You should play whatever genre you desire to create on, for inspiration.

>> No.6243521

>>6243483
Okay, well I can imagine having to practice for some months or maybe even a year before I can get started, but I will need some action plan. I can't just draw only when I feel like it. So I guess I would need to make some plan of how I will be practicing. Wasting days here on /jp/ is pointless, if I can use that wasted time and put it into something useful like practicing drawing then at least something good may come out of my hands.

>>6243487
You mean play such games as the one I'd like to create?

You will just know when to start with something serious, it's magic.

Also, you should try to start with something simple, something like Irisu Syndrome would be ok (Just a puzzle game or something like that). Look Touhou 1 HRtP, it's very simple too, and funny.
