We need to talk for a minute /jp/.

You take yourself way to fucking seriously. Everyone has become so incredibly reactionary it's destroying the quality of the board. Now, back when /jp/ was started there was some internal policing that kept us free from refuse (namely /a/). However it's gotten completely out of hand.

We use to do fun things like this. If someone tried to make the very same thread today, it would be reported/deleted/spammed within minutes. And how exactly does that help anyone? It doesn't. I don't know how we've managed to attract everyone on the entirety of the internet with authority issues in their life, but you need to man up.

I would rather have pure quality all of the time, but that is not how 4chan works. The ideal is that complete freedom and encouraging creativity gives more enjoyment than establishing specific topics and things you're able to discuss without getting deleted and saying "There, have fun within the boundaries of that".

Not that I'm defending the shitposting and spam, I hate as much as any anonymous, but what we should change is this culture of yelling 'reported' over everything and anything. It would be a good day if those were banned on sight, don't contribute anything to the board.

Your example? /jp/ still plays MMOs. There are even still Cosmic Break threads, even though that flavor's month has long passed!

I'd say one point in /jp/'s favor is that people actually report here (we have more reports than any other board, by far) but we could improve by not telling everyone online that we reported the thread, and simply hide it and move on.

Finally, rather than complaining and waiting around for someone to start a fun thread, make one yourself.

Forced anonymous would solve nothing, already most spammers are anonymous and recognized only by their spamming patterns. Blog avatar using tripfags are but a speck on the list of things that 4chan needs to fix, but truth is that it's only up to us as users to do something about it with a lack of staff support.
Mods don't care, moot cares even less.

As always, stop complaining, focus on good threads, ignore the bad. User moderation still works to a degree. Posting 'reported' doesn't help, metathreads only lower morale further.

The problem is not metathreads, which yours are not (metathread: a thread that revolves around the board itself. Hence, meta). It's that you're trying to push it too hardly along with avatar using. It's the avatar that puts, at least me, personally, on edge. Too many bad examples from other boards over the years and I wouldn't like to see that in /jp/ as well.

Hell, just reword it as a NEET support thread or something and it will surely get 200+ posts.
