Anyone use this? I'm on about 300 and it's the most frustrating and mind numbingly boring thing I've ever experienced.

It's not that bad, I started out with these books as well.
I think I did around 30-50 a day, so it didn't take too long. Just make sure you have a proper program to review (SRS), this will save you so much trouble.

But I tell you what's really frustrating: I am now at 3042 Kanji and there are I still encounter words with Kanji I don't know on a frequent basis. (Granted I also read shit from authors who probably get off using kanji whenever they can, but it still happens quite often.)
