Excellent gallery there. I haven't found the book yet though, so I'd be glad if anyone had it in .pdf or something.

>South American natives believe that the ghosts of the departed take up residence in these fish, hence the name.

Didn't know that.

OP picture is a frilled shark, by the way. The full image is much more impressive. This one's a goblin shark.

Similarly, "deep sea jellyfish", "deep sea ctenophore", "deep sea siphonophore", "deep sea holothurian" etc. are bound to give good results.

National Geographic really needs to add species identifications to their galleries. They're otherwise great, though.

The gommon name of this one is "green bomber". The spiny things are modified gills. When the animal is attacked, they detach and flare green, giving the worm a chance to escape.

common*

This one isn't a sea creature, but requires a mention.

http://www.wired.com/wiredscience/2010/04/t-rex-leech/

It's a nose leech, so don't click if you don't like images of leeches on people's faces. You never run out of horrible parasites infesting every single body part. There's even a 9-meter long worm that lives in whale placentas.

No problem. Sorry for not posting more, I don't have a dedicated folder so all I can do is trying to remember interesting species and using Google Images. You may want to go to Bogleech or Echinoblog for interesting sea life.
