I'm waiting for university to start, so not NEET.

I need glasses but tend not to wear them, will probably start wearing them more frequently in uni since I won't get the 'lol, where did they come from' reaction I'd have gotten at college.

Eyes are slowly getting worse, need them for reading subs now if I want to lay down on my bed and watch animu.

I wear them at all times. I'm blind as shit without them, I'm so nearsighted that anything past arms length is a total blur.

Thankfully though, I don't think I look too bad in them. People actually say I look strange without them.

They're top-frame only and a bit squared off, almost exactly like Yuki N.'s glasses, but much less feminine.

Sitting in a damp, dark room during my teenage years actually did not help my eyesight one bit, I wear glasses most of the day unless I'm reading or I'm at the computer.

If any of you young faggots in here think you're immortal because your eyesight hasn't gone to shit yet- See the folly of your ways now, and you can prevent the possibility of having to wear glasses or contacts. I'm so near sighted it's pretty hilarious. Everything is blurred beyond my elbows, though my eyesight hasn't gotten worse in the past four years coincidentally, when I started getting into bullet hell games.

I've had to wear glasses since I was 6 or 7, both my parents and my brother wear glasses. It pisses me off when people see glasses as some sort of terrible affliction that seriously hampers your life. I'm looking at you, laser eye surgery adverts.

After wearing glasses for so long, they've pretty much become an extension of my face. I don't notice that they're there, I don't feel them there unless I concentrate on them and I honestly look better with them on.

>>6019878
There's a difference between straining and damaging, yet people get them confused pretty often. You won't damage your eyes looking at a monitor in the dark, but I wouldn't suggest it anyway. You know how your iris expands and contracts depending on the level of light you're exposed to? If you're in a dark room, your irises are having to adjust far more often than they should be.

>> No.6019991

The most important things to think of if oyu want to keep your eyesight (or as much as possible for as long as possible at least), is most of all
1. Lightning
2. Distance and Focus

If I am to make myself short I may simply say that lightning is important, in the dark the strain on your eyes is a lot stronger than in light. Also, the light itself is necessary for your eyes to see colours and details, removing that, your eyeswon't function as good as they could have. And you know what happens when some part of your body isn't used? It withers/detoriates in one way or another, this includes eyesight.

And about that, what is used and whatnot.
Do you know how the bookworm and bad eyesight trope grew? (it also happens to be the same principle as to why it's bad to sit in front of a screen all day)
It has to do with distance and focus.
The eyes can be trained like any other part of the body, but yet again if not the opposite happens.
If you read a book most of the day from about the same distance (well your arms are only so and so long but anyway), then your eyes will attune to said distance and naturally the focus shifts as well, this is simply why we can see details of things both close and faraway, cause they adjust.
If we however only look at something close (be it a book, a screen, a wall) all the time, the eyes don't get used to changing focus and they don't get their training/upkeep they need, and thus you cam grow either nearsighted or farsighted depending on what distance is common for you.

>>6019991
So here are some tips.
Always try to have your room lit, and try to have it close to a "daylight" level or something, just because it'snot "dark" doesn't have to mean it's "light".

And, try not to always look at the same distance, and even if you don't leave your home, try to look outside of the window sometimes or at least the farside of your room.
Bad lightning is bad, but if you never shift your focus and always look at things of the same distance then your eyes will go bad.

Keep this in mind and your eyes should last a long a time, or at least significantly longer.

I don't even do that. I wash with them on and wipe them afterwards. A layer of patina forms on the rim if you do that, though.
