I've found that having a lot of varied hobbies can make life pretty enjoyable whether you get out much or not. Right now my hobbies consist of:

-Chess
-Photography
-Piano
-Bass Guitar
-Tinkering with old electronics/makin chiptunes

Just pick whatever medium you like, and learn how to make part of it, whether its drawing, writing, composing music, whatever. download some ebooks. It really doesn't take much time at all to start a new hobby in this day and age.
