As of now, this new system is still in beta. Please keep this in mind. At this moment, it is only possible to upload mp3 files and songs won't be requested automatically. We can switch to the old system anytime if something goes wrong.

Anyway, please give feedback over this new system. Post any error messages you get, post opinions, suggestions, whatever.
Main server now holds up to 10 people. There are a number of relay servers up that automatically redirect you when the main server is full, so don't worry.

You can still submit logo's for the website. Make sure it's 300x100 and I'll make sure it's in the rotation. Lets see some of that /jp/ creativity.

Point out any problems you have with V2. It's still being worked on, and if there are any major problems we'll just switch to the old version.

Help me out here. I figured the system ate my file when it died for a bit before so I tried uploading the file again. Now I get this:

The request limit has been lowered to 300 minutes per track. Before it was at 1220 minutes, due to the fact that the same few songs were being requested again and again on an hourly basis.

Now that our playlist has lowered in size, we've lowered the request limit. You should now bump into the "Track Recently Played" message less frequently. Please tell us if you still think this limit is too high.

Download MP3tag, go into Tools > Options and uncheck the box for ID3v! in the "write" section. Also make sure the circle next to ID3v2.4 UTF-8 is filled in. Save these settings, add the directory that your music is in, and you should see all your files. A quick way to do this for individual files is to right click and cut the tags, then paste the tags. The newly pasted tags will be in ID3v2.4, since you set MP3tag to not write ID3v1 tags anymore.

What's the point in filling the form after uploading a song if the informations aren't used by the search engine? I just uploaded the whole Symphonic Rain vocal album, but the songs are impossible to find except if you search for their exact romanized name, which makes this upload completely useless.

Scratch that, I can connect to it now. If the song you want to request was already uploaded to the server, I can pull it right into my computer to stream, so no need to mediafire your request (unless you're requesting something that hasn't been uploaded to the main server yet)

You can only request 2 songs per 10 minutes, so being able to click every song you uploaded would be a waste of programming time. Auto enqueue isn't possible either, as SAM has to first refresh the "upload" folder in order to recognize the song (which happens every 5 minutes).

Now that I think about it, I guess it's possible to implement it, making sure that the song is q'd the moment SAM finds it, but that would be a big pain in the ass to program adding the fact that I have to make sure you can only request 2 songs every 10 minutes makes it even harder.

Actually, now that I think about it there is 2 other thing that would make requesting better.

A. Implement something where if you requested a song and your at the limit it will automatically be requested after the time is up so you don't have to manually do it.

B. Make how much you can request based on how large the queue is.

As long as it's not being abused, I think that would be make low pop times better.

Problem with A:

Semi-defeats the purpose of the limit. When you do something like this, people feel less limited in what they want to request, so they'll just keep clicking whatever songs and lining up their personal request queue. Even if it's separated every 10 minutes, people put less thought into what they request if they have the leisure to just request a whole bunch of stuff at one time, even if it's spaced out.

I hardly even notice the request limit, and I make new requests all the time. don't see how many people bump into it unless you uploaded a whole album and expect to queue every single song of that album as soon as you get it online.

Not sure how I feel about B. Just because people aren't requesting doesn't mean there aren't listeners. They may not want to hear 5 of your requests in a row, and would rather let the player pick a song at random.

I dunno, B may work, just feel a bit iffy about it. But I haven't put too much thought into it.

It's just if I'm studying or other wise (intensely) concentrating turning around and requesting stuff (decently) often, breaks the flow.

As for B, If they don't like it, vote skip it? Also it does not have to be a very large change, some thing like no <2 songs - 4 requests (per 10 mins) | 3-6 songs - 3 requests | >7 normal. Just so if there is (very) little in the queue and what you where requesting was <5 mins you have more control.

Yes and no. You can use kanji IF you tag your song properly. Make sure to remove ID3v1 tags from your song and only use ID3v2.4 tags. If you need help with this, let me know.

When you're uploading a song, you can't use Japanese characters in the upload interface. This is the name that the file gets saved as on the server, and it creates problems if you use Japanese in this. If you don't know the name of the track in English or can't romanize it, at least get the artist's name in there or something.

I think he means back when we were in V1, back when Pyonta was using that Foobar plugin to run the requests and such. Back then you could upload any file, regardless of it was MP3. Needless to say, Japanese files could be uploaded as well, however a majority of them never kept their Japanese name.

In any case, Pyonta-kun has more freedom for alterations with this system.

A. As Stalker said, an automatic queue system breaks the purpose of the limits. We don't want people queue up random songs without limits. Creating a smart system where people can click on random songs while a script tries to figure out when it will actually be played is to complicated. Waste of time imo.

B. I don't think I can change the queue limit using a script. It's a number I have to fill in sam. I can only change playlist related information afaik. I guess I could create a PHP script that blocks people from requesting stuff, but the existing scripts are so spread out that it's gonna be a pain in the ass to find the right place to implement it.
