Serious question.
What do you guys like about Umineko?
I'm just trying to understand why it's so popular here.

From what I can see it's just a mediocre series of VNs with some really bland and uninspired writing, a really stupid and far too dragged out plot, a cast that is mostly bland and made of throwaway character, a mystery that is only difficult to solve because of how STUPID it is and it only tries to go for cheap effects you'll find in a B movie or shitty fanfiction to keep the attention of the readers.

It's a fucking chore to read and it's especially completely retarded when the author tries to go meta-fiction on us, he is no fucking Joyce. I barely could finish it episode 5, thankfully the soundtrack that is admittedly godlike helps.

You're entitled to your opinion. It's like Twilight; lots of fangirls love it and it's relatively popular, but I probably won't find enjoyment it in, even after giving it a chance because I already have a biased view.

It has some philosophical themes which I enjoy, but I'm no good on the metaphysical concept. It's fun to give it a chance to figure out some of the closed room puzzles, character intentions and sharing theories with others.

Character development could be better; in some cases it seems like Ryu forget that certain people exist and it causes confusion when their presence isn't mentioned (like Kinzo's wife), art, and back stories could be shortened...like Ange/Maria's.
