How (scientifically speaking) can Renko tell her position in space-time by looking at stars?

also, am I the only one that thinks the sealinng club girls are awesome with all that quantum physics and theories and stuff?(it even revived my interess in the subject by the way)

tl;dr discuss science and post Renko/Maribel in the meantime

Either by checking the position of Polaris (star above the North Pole) in coordination with other stars, or quasi-magic bullshit.

Each hemispehere has its' own set of stars and constellations. Knowing which constellation is in which hemisphere, she can figure out where she is.

Constellations change through time, and I think they do at a predictable rate. Knowing how a constellation changes allows her to figure out when she is.

that much is obvious
what I mean is...how can her human eyes detect changes in star movement so precisely?

I can't stand it when people think "quantum physics" is a sciency way to make your magic stuff more acceptable.
