Pretty well I'd say. My apartment is actually paid for by my employer, but I have many friends who pay their own and they do very well. You can save a lot of money if you don't party TOO hard, but even then you can save AND party quite a bit if you are smart.

Not many. Japan really isn't the best, or even a good place for someone to come work long term. It was better before (pre 2008 crash), there were a lot of foreigners working in finance/IT but now? most have either gone home or are stuck here broke.
