if you just wanna play pop/rock/blues type stuff, get a beginner book and learn basic chords. then listen to your favorite records and start banging around until you figure out what they're playing. practice and repeat.

if you wanna play something more complex like classical or jazz, save yourself the frustration and hire a fucking teacher.
