I dispute this, since while I seem to be required to eat, drink, sleep and excrete every day, I have not for over 20 years had any sex, and I have not found my life in danger for it.

If something is a psychological "need" then it should be just as important as any physical "need". It should be the type of need that the lack of severely damages a person, making them unable to sustain day to day life. Like making them hallucinate, or consider killing themselves with true intention.

To say this is a "need" "on par" with eating, sleeping and excreting, you're saying that someone's life will be in danger if they are lacking it, and if they are without it for too long (too long being a period of not even a month), then they will certainly die. That "on par" has been used here but is clearly not factual damages the trustworthiness of the one doing the claiming.
