Yeah, that's where this thread is coming from.

Anyway, watching K-On... Sawako says "watashi good job!" Which sounds so absurd that I took it as a joke, by both the content of the line and the delivery. But I gotta ask... is that something a Japanese speaker would say? Not the interjection of english at random (okay, maybe that, too, as a sub-question) but just the formation of the statement. It seems very... simplistic to me, which is why I took it as a gag.

What, you think because we're /jp/ we know fucking Japanese?

You learn quick.

Yes

Used to /jp/ as where people who knew or were attempting to learn Japanese would hang out. Looks like it's changed since I've last been here to... otaku culture? Really?

....isn't that the whole of 4chan?

/jp/ was never about learning Japanese. Although there are still always people who reply, there is already a board for languages.

/jp/ was never about that.

You might try /lang/.

I'm really confused then. What's the point of /jp/ at all then? I can't imagine a single aspect of otaku, or Japanese culture in general that isn't covered in any other board.

moot got butthurt about people discussing stuff that wasn't technically anime on /a/.

Doujin games, idols, ball-jointed dolls, visual novels.

/lang/ is on /int/ but is fairly useless for its intended purpose. You're kind of SOL: I'd probably go to /trv/ as a compromise but you're probably better off finding a dedicated Japanese language forum.

You'd say "I did a sugoi job". It would sound absurd to any japanese speaker.

Sounds like you're a fucking retard.

Touhou and Visual Novels. We were kicked out of /a/. We picked up Idols early on. Meta-threads like what this is becoming have always been here as well, what with the very first thread being a meta-thread about how the board is for Touhou and visual novels.

Sure is shit taste.

>It seems very... simplistic to me
That's because it's Japanese.
