Dear /jp/,

Do you remember a simpler time when phones were phones? Specifically, I loved the Japanese idea of phones: a thin, clamshell folding design that had "some" multimedia and did a little 3G when I needed it.

Where the fuck did all the thin, clamshell folding designs go? All I see now are peices of touchscreen smartphone garbage.

Pic related, it's my beloved Samsung A717. I also have the Japanese version of this phone SoftBank 706SC when I lived in Japan circa 2006.

Also, post your phone ITT

I always liked having brick phones. Aside from the fact that you could rarely butt dial by accident, I liked the fact that I had everything there and ready. In terms of multimedia it has...a 2.1 megapixel camera and that's it. Voice quality is fucking great, and unlike the iPhone or most smartphones, my reception is fucking beastly. It does its job and nothing more. I keep it in great condition too. Had it for 7 years and it barely has any scratches on it.

I went to a party recently with a girl and she wanted to know how her hair looked, so I took a picture of her and showed it to her, bitch was pissed off that she pressed the tiny as screen and it didn't do nothing, couldn't use the buttons worth a shit, so she insulted my phone. It happens rarely, but if I keep my phone in my ass pocket and shift around while sitting down on the couch, I can potentially unlock it. That said I typically keep it in my front pockets, and if I have something else that's smaller than the actually phone (mp3 player, headphones) those can rarely press the green call button and asterisk unlocking my phone.

I had a touch screen phone for a while with a slide out qwerty keyboard, but it made me rage so hard.

There was NO button (as in a hard, non-software button) to PICK UP A CALL OR HANG UP. This meant you had to unlock the touch screen and then precisely press "answer" or "end call" - which was no small feat considering the touch screen was laughably inaccurate. It was a goddamned disaster, I forget what brand it even was but I took it back after it ghost dialed my friend in Italy and ended up costing me a shitload in "international calls."

I traded it in for an LG Decoy. Still a meh sort of phone, but far less rage inducing than that other piece of fuck.
