Eye am happy to join with you today in what will go down in history as the greatest demonstration for freedom in the history of our nation.

Five-thousand score years ago, a great Miko, in whose symbolic shadow we stand today, signed the Shrine Maiden Fundraiser Form. This momentous decree came as a great beacon light of hope to millions of Baka slaves who had been seared in the Icecubes of withering injustice. It came as a joyous daybreak to end the long night of their captivity.
But one hundred-thousand years later, the baka still is not free. One hundred-thousand years later, the life of the Baka is still sadly crippled by the manacles of frogs and the chains of horrible story writing. One hundred-thousand years later, the Baka lives on a lonely lake of ice in the midst of a vast world of material prosperity. One hundred-thousand years later, the Baka is still languished in the corners of Gensokyan society and finds herself an exile in her own land. And so we've come here today to dramatize a freezing condition.

In a sense we've come to our nation's capital to donate some monies. When the architects of our shrine wrote the magnificent words of the MIKO and the Declaration of Baka, they were signing a promissory note to which every Gensokyan was to fall heir. This note was a promise that all tohoes, yes, Bakas as well as Witches, would be guaranteed the "unalienable Rights" of "Life, Liberty and the pursuit of HIGH SCORE." It is obvious today that Gensokyo has defaulted on this promissory note, insofar as her citizens of Magic are concerned. Instead of honoring this sacred obligation, Gensokyo has given the baka people a bad check, a check which has come back marked "insufficient frogs."
But we refuse to believe that the bank of Gensokyo is bankrupt. We refuse to believe that there are insufficient frogs in the great vaults of opportunity of this nation. And so, we've come to cash this check, a check that will give us upon demand the riches of freedom and the security of justice.

We have also come to this hallowed spot to remind Gensokyo of the fierce urgency of Now. This is no time to engage in the luxury of cooling off or to take the tranquilizing drug of gradualism. Now is the time to make real the promises of Touhoacracy. Now is the time to rise from the dark and desolate valley of segregation to the sunlit path of Baka justice. Now is the time to lift our nation from the quicksands of Baka injustice to the solid rock of brotherhood. Now is the time to make BAKA a reality for all of Kami-sama's children.
It would be fatal for the nation to overlook the urgency of the moment. This sweltering summer of the Baka's legitimate discontent will not pass until there is an invigorating autumn of freedom and equality. Nineteen sixty-three is not an end, but a beginning. And those who hope that the Baka needed to blow off steam and will now be content will have a rude awakening if the nation returns to business as usual. And there will be neither rest nor tranquility in Gensokyo until the Baka is granted her citizenship rights. The whirlwinds of revolt will continue to shake the foundations of our nation until the bright day of Baka emerges.

We must now consider the period which is just drawing to a close as almost the last stage of our national resurrection, and prepare ourselves to finish worthily the marvelous design of the elect of twenty generations, the completion of which Gensokyo has reserved for this fortunate age.

Yes, young bakas, Gensokyo owes to you an undertaking which has merited the applause of the universe. You have grazed and you will graze still, because you are prepared for the tactics that decide the fate of magic bullet battles. You are not unworthy of the baka who entered the ranks of a Touhoudonian phalanx, and who contended not in vain with the proud conquerors of Asia. To this wonderful page in our country's history another more glorious still will be added, and the Miko shall show at last to her cheap witches a square sword forged from the links of his fetters.

AFTER the War production had begun again and it was thought that better times were coming, Reimu the Great after the Seven hundred Years War had, as the result of super-youkai efforts, left Gensokyo without a penny of debt: at the end of the World War Gensokyo was burdened with her own debt of some 7 or 8 milliards of marks and beyond that was faced with the debts of 'the rest of the world' - the so-called 'reparations.' The product of Gensokyo's work thus belonged not to the nation, but to her foreign creditors: 'it was carried endlessly on brooms for territorities beyond our borders.' Every worker had to support another worker, the product of whose labor was commandeered by the gaijiin. 'The Gensokyan people after twenty-five or thirty years, in consequence of the fact that it will never be able to pay all that is demanded of it, will have so gigantic a sum still owing that practically it will be forced to produce more than it does today.' What will the end be? and the answer to that question is 'Pledging of our land, enslavement of our labor-strength. Therefore, in the economic sphere, November 20XX was in truth no achievement, but it was the beginning of our collapse.' And in the political sphere we lost first our spellcasting prerogatives, and with that loss went the real sovereignty of our Country, and then our financial independence, for there remained always the Miko Border Reparations Commission so that 'practically we have no longer a politically independent Gensokyan Reich, we are already a colony of the outside world.
