DSM-V (the upcoming latest edition of a famous psychological diagnosis tool used by thousands of trained psychiatrists) will be removing pedophilia from the list of mental illnesses and simply classifying it as a paraphilia. This means that attraction to young children (which is the definition of pedophilia) will on its own not be considered harmful or mentally sick as long as it doesn't harm anybody else. This will be a huge stepping stone for the rights of passive pedophiles and lolicon.

I was under the impression that DSM-V was supposed to classify MORE sexual deviancies as illnesses, rather than less.
Good to see I was mistaken.

This is good news, people who can keep their fetishes to themselves won't have to fear forced "treatment" and real pedophiles won't be able to get off lighter with "mentally ill" line of defense.

Attraction to children by itself isn't a mental disorder in the DSM-IV either. The attraction has to be compulsive enough that it causes enough mental stress to hinder someone's ability to live their daily life. In other words if you're attracted to children but don't have an intense urge to rape every kid you see walking down the street then you're fine.
