It amazes me how translators or other Japanese speakers are the only ones bitching about nnl getting their hands on it. If nnl sucks, and you can read it, translate it yourself.

Also, I doubt that the main nnl translator translated that line, seeing how well done EF is.

>> No.5071269

The line in question:
>週の終わりだからといって代わり映えしない。

>>5071269
What's so bad about that? Well, admittedly it's hard to tell which is better without knowing what lines come before or after that, but NNL's looks better to me. Yeah, the literal meaning is slightly different, but it still means more or less the same thing.

Also, a line they translated for a troll screenshot would not be to the same standards as something they were seriously translating in the first place.

>> No.5071315

>>5071274
The line's emphasis is on the fact that the weekend is no different from any other day. There's an important theme of sorts in the game, something along the lines of "Why didn't God give every day of the week a different sky?"

My wording was influenced by underlying meaning of the line and how it relates to the rest of the game. I don't think NNL really preserved the nuance correctly, and it's dubious as to whether or not they've actually played the game. Much of SubaHibi is completely impossible to translate "correctly" without having played the entire game beforehand, simply due to how the game's major themes and hints about its plot points are interwoven into nearly everything.

Moogy hasn't done a full project as a TL yet afaik, but as an editor I don't think he has dropped anything, except leaving nnl's ef project because of nnl's retarded antics (such as making lines up when their shitty translator couldn't understand the Japanese).

As for his Japanese skill, I'd say it's pretty good. He also sort of has bilingual native speaker TLC standing by if I'm not mistaken, and due to his experience as an editor his translations make for good, fluent English (unlike certain other release groups).

I'd definitely pick a Moogy translation over an NNL translation any day. One thing I can't comment on though is his speed - NNL seems to be pretty fast, I guess.

The Swells spammers better not be the #tlwiki faggots who have already played the game and don't want to see it get translated by a group they don't like (who usually do a good job translating, even if they troll) when they have no intention to translate it themselves.

If this is the case, then #tlwiki faggots, fuck you

Protip: Moogy just wants to keep Subahibi untranslated by anyone until next year, regardless of who it is. He wants to translate it yet, but right now he is not skilled enough to translate it, and so he would like to keep everybody else from translating it. If you want Moogy to translate it, enjoy waiting until 2012 to play it.

>> No.5074510

Regardless of the poll outcome, because it is obvious that it will only win because of Moogy lies, nnl should translate Subahibi unless Moogy makes a serious attempt at translating it.

Anyone who is voting against SubaHibi because they think NNL is incompetent is retarded.

Would you rather it get picked up by the people doing To Heart 2 X-rated and get 28.5% progress in more than three years?
How about the Fate/Hollow Ataraxia people who have been working for years and are at 30%?
How long have people been picking up and dropping AIR? 5 years? 6? And some of it will be Japanese to Chinese to English?

NNL has been working on Swells for about half a year, maybe less, and they're already at 20%. Just because they used the word "Supah" does not make it a shitty translation, and if any of you could understand Japanese and English you'd know that their translations aren't that bad AND they're fast. If you don't want to get trolled by them, just ignore them until it's actually released.

The point is that there are shitty translators out there who will call dibs on a project and then do a shitty job translating a couple lines a week and then never finish it. Or maybe we'll get REAL trolls like GamePatch to translate it and have SubaHibi be at 100% translation for years because the translator was stuck in Japan without internet.

IN AN ALTERNATE UNIVERSE...

The NNL polls took place a year earlier and Swells was actually Muvluv. It wins easily.

NNL proceeds to cut out the entirety of Extra because it doesn't contribute to the story, as well as 1/2 of Alt and Unlimited because their expert translator who took japanese in high school can't handle the technobabble.

The entire project takes twice as long to complete as it will take for Ixrec in our universe. Anons rejoice because there was no other way the Muvluv saga would have been translated.

>> No.5076396

>>5076326
IN YET ANOTHER ALTERNATE UNIVERSE

Swells wins and Mashiro Iro Symphony is translated. After about a year, it is released and everyone is able to fully appreciate it for the underwhelming moege it is. Meanwhile, Moogy claims that he will translate Subahibi once he learns enough Japanese, so nobody else touches it. In the end, he never actually gets around to it, and by 2012, everybody has moved on to other projects. It never gets translated.

BAD END

Try again?

There's no doubt that this is a form of trolling, but they probably still will respect the outcome. Remember, the main reason they did these polls in the first place was to mock Ammy for not accepting the result of theirs. So they're not going to go and do the same thing themselves.
