Well, they finally did it. The last bastion defending us true Touhou players from the newfags has finally crumbled as the existence of PC98 Touhou games has been revelated to thousands of "hardcore" gamers.
Expect hundreds of these hipsters to rush in here very soon, acting as though they've been Touhou fans since the beginning and basically turning the PC98 titles into a fashion item like they did with NES games.

OP here, I can already feel some of them are already here. It's just a matter of time before one of those hipsters with plastered emo hair and thick-rimmed glasses will start typing a long-winded rant about how the PC98 games embodied the spirit of Touhou and the switch to Windows corrupted the series as ZUN grew more and more obsessed with graphics. Before long we'll see /jp/ flooded with posts glorifying their blocky graphics and bleepy music as some sort of expression of minimalism.
The last straw will probably be them getting ahold of ZUN's personal infos and intimidating him into making all the future games in the fashion of the PC98 ones so that they can masturbate over the raw pixels. I shudder at this thought, but as it happened to MegaMan, it can very well happen to our beloved Touhou.

I see you've totally misunderstood the point of my message. There is indeed a difference between not having played the PC98 games and admitting it and not having played them and admitting you are a fan of them just to appear old-school.
What makes me different from those bandwagon-jumping hipsters is that I don't love to go around saying how I've an emotional fondenss for the PC98 games and how 8-bit graphics is the bestest because that makes gameplay somewhat superior. What makes me better than them is that I don't feel the desire to seems more of consummate gamer than I am just to set myself apart from the crowd.
