Alright, ladies and gents of /jp/, I'm going to have to ask for a spot of help for our little project. Our sprite worker had to bow out, real life got in the way. If you have someone that could help, please, let us know. Also, any ideas and the like you wanna toss up, feel free.

>>4987301

Nah, I know. Just, a bit annoying that I slipped up like that, is all.

Anyway, more on topic: We've been trying to finalize the first draft for the prolog, it's starting to come together rather nicely. we've at least partly got Nina and Lucy's personalities down, and we have someone working on the backgrounds. The main thing for the moment is we are really going to need a sprite artist.

More writers or editors would not be amiss, either.

Like Shanker said, our original sprite artist was a little pressed on time or something, just slap a few random things together, then this morning, he threw in the towel and quit. Higher quality arts are currently being planned and made.

Nothing wrong with that, at least you can admit it. I'm less then skilled at writing, otherwise I might take a crack at it myself. in time, I might, just to help tweak personalities, because that's how you can do it best.

I'd rather not let this die, if for the simple reason it's damn fun.

You know, Shanker, I'd actually like to ask you to try and write the WHOLE script. I don't care if you think it suck or not, at least it will be something to work on. Things in it can be changed dramatically, but it will solidify what we're doing, what plots/routes we have, what characters we're using, how are the characters like. Unless someone else would like to take a stab at it, I think we're stuck with you for now.

Wow I'm impressed. I would assume from left to right it's MC, Chris, Nina, Alexis, Lucetta and Chisame in that order? I would say Nina looks better without glasses (I'm not a big fan of glasses maybe). Your Alexis design looks much better than what I've in mind. Lucetta's dress seems slightly too short. Yeah, you got the order right. I'm pretty big on glasses so it's just my little experiment, in the end we can just go with whatever is most agreed upon. Well, I was thinking for the most part, she has contacts in, because, like her ass, she's a bit self-coshus about them. The glasses are for private use only, until the MC stumbles on her using them sometime. Perhaps he does not knock? And, after that, it's in private, or when the contacts are bothering her, if she's around him only.

Assuming your going to go with the trap idea you should figure out why he would rationalize doing that. It's not exactly popular or anything in America. It'd make more sense if the setting was California and the MC just happened to pick up a transvestite in a bar or something.

Assuming she's not a trap though you need to work on her interests and hobbies. She looks kind of preppy try expanding on that.

chisame is a trap.

and well, we have a bunch of traps on /jp/ who live in usa as far as i know, so there are people like that. sure, the chance of meeting one are slim, but not none. they're higher than a generic boring guy finding out he has superpowers and saving the world in a lot of other stories.

one of them could've gotten evicted from their place, and found his way to the warehouse to be able to continue their trapping, so they accepted the nun's offer, or something.

Descriptions like "reverse trap bro" were as confusing as fuck to me so I added names to the concept art for easier reference.

reverse trap bro = a guy who dresses like a guy, what the fuck?

It's probably because the character personalities are not fleshed out enough. We can't "label" them with unique adjectives, making it hard to exactly pinpoint how each should look like and express.

I'm thinking if the group should be hostile to MC when he first joins the warehouse, since they don't treat him like a part of the family yet. That way, we can really build up on the characters, and let the reader slowly explore each character as they reveal themselves to MC.

Since no body feel like taking the initiative to flesh out the characters more, I'll probably write a few paragraphs from my personal suggestions/my own compilation of character designs from previous threads for each character later, just so we got some more condensed paragraphs to work with.

On another matter, for art, I think I want this style for faces (for all except MC and Chris at least).

There is a reason the janitor hates you mugen, and also reading your posts in the forum does not help you as out of the 9 posts you've posted 6 of them are advertising either the renpy engine or your cgs, blatently disregarding the fact that the script is currenly a page and you're already slapping important things together before the script has been fleshed out to the point of going into detail about the places you're so fond of making models and molds of.

Why don't you hold your damn horses and let the writefags go into detail of how things should look like before you waste time making things that can't be used?

I think the reason people are mad at you is that people don't want this VN to look like another Heavy Metal Girl. This is a /jp/ project after all not another Mugen's VN.

The fact still stands you will never have a style just placing layers and layers of filters and effects on a 3d object. That is the reason that most VNs still rely on the tablet and pen for most CGs, artist styles are also a selling point, boxy 3d CGs are not.

Looking at your engine concepts I am going to point out that Overlay mode is a bitch to read and should be avoided, especially if you're going to cover up the important sprites under them.

What this project needs most right now is to flesh out the character looks and feels and to get hold of writefags to advance the script, not stuck up retards on both sides bickering and making useless things.

I mean if you can't even get how tall the characters are set in stone how is the writefag supposed to tell it's readers?

Long story short, TAKE A CHILL PILL and focus on things that matters, instead of things that are not.

Easy, mugen because japanese VNs run in windows, translated VNs from j-list, mangagamers and fantranslated VNs also run, in windows, so it's safe to assume that anyone interested in VNs have either windows or an enviroment that can emulate windows. You are getting way to ahead of yourself, the game isn't even out and you're already thinking of "Hey! lets make this thing run on other platforms like the PSP or iPhone or some shit."

Focus on the important aspects like getting in touch with the writefag and reading over the scripts, talking with him to see what needs to be made and not steam rolling ahead with your "Hurr Durr I make money, you listen to me!" attitude.

>It took a year to finish dandy girl
It's worth learning why it took so long, because if you examine all the hours people spent on it, the project could have been finished a lot sooner.

1) The former lead artist showed absolutely no progress of any sort. Finally red-Anon took over near the end of April. About 2 months wasted.

2) The first version of ONScripter used was buggy and crashed for many people. This wasn't fixed until a newer version was found in early June. Another month wasted.

3) People taking it easy throughout the summer, although there was progress.

4) Art finished on December 2nd. 2+ weeks passed before TLH finished inserting the script.

5) Everything was pretty much done by January 9, but the writer said he was planning to make changes, so the project sat still. This went on until Feb. 28, when the frustrated programmer went ahead and released it.

More than 4 months were wasted doing virtually nothing. red-Anon was often away for weeks and unable to draw anything new due to his job. The writer apparently experienced all sorts of personal crises during production. All said and done, the project should have been able to be finished in half a year.

I agree, but only for something on the scale of, say, OMGWTFOTL, in which there were no character sprites and just 15 CGs/backgrounds total, not to mention the overall short length.

implying a good artist can't make 125 sprites in three weeks

>> No.5005675

well if we give up on the idea of multiple poses for sprites, it'd mean 1 sprite per character + expressions, which would be much faster.

At least make it 2-3 poses per character (10-15 sprites will be good). Honestly though, I'd like 5 pose for each character (and 5 expression for each pose so we get 25 sprite per character) if possible.

So, did all the writefriends abandon this project? Last edit on the pastebin was over a week ago.

they still talk about it on the thread in the OP post.

I can't speak for the rest but I'm still here and working little by little on my stuff but the tripfag spam can sometimes be discouraging.

How does tripfags discourage you? I thought trolls do that, not tripfags.

The trolls don't use smiley faces at least.
