Is it even possible to beat Touhou on normal modo? Been playing Embodiment of Scarlet Devil on normal(Began on normal and never played easy), havn't get much further than China without using continues...

And don't go "normal is for second graders". I'm a beginner, dammit. :(

After one month, use practice mode.

Yes, it's very possible.
To be fair though, you ARE playing what is arguably one of the harder Touhou games...
And if you think China was hard, get ready to rage at Patchy's lasers and Sakuya's knifes in your ass.

It's been said time and time again, but it really can't be stressed enough...The only real way to get better with this game is practice.

That doesn't necessarily make it harder.

In my opinion, EoSD is often considered one of the hardest games because of how many random patterns it has (and maybe because of how sluggish Reimu feels there).

Note how I didn't say that is was the God tier of hard modo for touhou games, I just stressed that it's a pretty hard game compared to others...More so, if you're just starting to get into the Touhou games.

Title for hardest game in my opinion goes to UFFFFFFFFFFFO.

OP here.

Hmm, good point. I'll try finding some replay videos, and playing practice mode might work.(To be fair, all I've done is go "normal mode" all the friggin' time.) Using Marissa, should I be using Reimu?

Yes. Cirno's attack is hard and I should get better at dodging it.

Well, no. I've heard rumors of it appearing when the slow mode button is used, and I've seen someone mention a "texture patch" in this thread, but that's about everything.

The texture patch or focus mode?

>> No.4758985

Yes, don't use it, for the hitbox location:
>The hit box for your character is quite small in comparison to your on-screen sprite, approximately only 5 pixels by 5 pixels in size. It is not clearly marked on the sprite, but it is possible to approximate its location well by looking at the white part of Reimu's clothes just above her red skirt, or the center of Marisa's pink ribbon on her back.

>> No.4759050

EoSD is easy once you get better at dodging in general with Marisa. By a good margin, in fact. She makes almost all of the bosses' attacks jokes, especially Flandre's.

Personally, UFO/SA are the hardest, UFO only because of the UFO gimmick being a pain for focused shots and that SA's bombs all have serious drawbacks.

>> No.4759076

>>4759050

They're not particularly hard in terms of dodging, though. I've only really been playing with MarisaC and ReimuB, but I get along fine. I'm still not sure what ReimuA's bomb is actually supposed to do in SA, though...

Oh, and I absolutely hate the little gimmicky UFO's. Let's hope ZUN never does any shit like that again.

Really? I'll admit that I'm currently better than OP, as I'm at least able to get past China without using continues, but I've mainly encountered trouble with Patchy's later spell cards. Her non-directional lasers are fairly easy to handle in comparison.

>>4758721 Got me thinking.
For /jp/, who is the easiest boss for each stage?
Who is the hardest?

For me inb4 everyone says there are no hard stage 1 bosses:

Easiest Stage 1 Boss - Wriggle
Hardest Stage 1 Boss - Nazrin

Easiest Stage 2 Boss - Mystia
Hardest Stage 2 Boss - Parsee

Easiest Stage 3 Boss - Nitori
Hardest Stage 3 Boss - Yuugi

Easiest Stage 4 Boss - Marisa
Hardest Stage 4 Boss - Prismrivers

Easiest Stage 5 Boss - Reisen
Hardest Stage 5 Boss - Orin

Easiest Stage 6 Boss - Kaguya
Hardest Stage 6 Boss - Byakuren

(optional)
Easiest EX Stage Boss - Mokou
Hardest EX Stage Boss - Koishi (by default as she's the only extra boss I can't even get to. I keep getting destroyed by Sanae)

I can dodge her spell cards fine, but her stupid lasers that she shoots while shooting those big bullets catch me a lot. The lasers always move a little bit farther than I anticipate and kill me right as they disappear.

>> No.4759197

Are we talking normal or harder? Because on normal, the lasers seem to lose their hitboxes just before they completely vanish, so I've found that it's okay to move close to them as they start to vanish.

two types of bullets: patterned and seeking. latter is easier to dodge.

I'm rather proficient in EoSD, having 1CC'd it with ReimuA and MarisaB, but China still gives me trouble with Colorful rain and Typhoon. for some odd reason, I just refuse to bomb the shit out of her random attacks so I end up dying, rageing and quitting.

China is easier on Hard, to be honest. less random but more shit flying around.
