Interesting thing about alphabet sorting with kanji

Somehow my audiobook app (Smart AudioBook Player) is smart enough to sort 前（ぜん） before 後（こう） in names of books like 前編 and 後編.
It is the only program I use that does that.
I wonder if it some library it uses that makes it so?
Can I make windows to sort them the same way?
