There was Special Stage on PS2. It's basically Arcade Stage v.2.5 (nerfs the overpowered Integra). Had a ton of extra content like extras stages and stuff.

There was Extreme Stage on PS3, which was just Arcade Stage 4 with some tweaks and online play. Not much extra content.

Also, Street Stage on PSP. Based on Arcade Stage 3, but shitty frame rate and stuff.

But yeah, a PC release with online crossplay would have been nice. Compilation of all of the best stuff through each game. (Old stages, music, cars, Legend of the Streets paths etc.)

Shigeno is on another hiatus again for creative issues I heard and MF Ghost was meh. The adaptation did well enough but will it SAVE the auto scene in Japan?

Whether it can be SAVED or not, I just hope we get a decent series related to it soon enough.
Initial D still managed to get an audience who were never even auto enthusiasts and MF Ghost got an audience at all just because of Initial D.
There is a formula that has yet to be tried.
I am unsure if it would be girl characters but there is a reason why a series like Bakuon worked for bikefags.

There are /o/ manga with cute girls but the appeal of Initial D was never that. The SoL side story tying into the races is one of the main components that need to be done right, then the races, then the sound design, etc... Initial D pretty much nailed a romantiscation of a dangerous, illegal hobby and make the races something you'd be looking forward to with excellent build-up.
For stage 1, the anticipation whether Bunta or Takumi will go to make up for Iketani's crash is one such thing. I feel like Initial D's only issue is that it lost the SoL element deep into Project D, and that it was afraid to spotlight characters other than Takumi for too long.
Initial D could very well have double the runtime if it decided to do some side story arcs like Shingo and Nakazato prancing about, Bunta flashback arc, tons of stuff.
If I were to do aut/o/ anything, it'd basically be like 1st/2nd stage but with more meat to other characters and no official racing bullshit, just pure illegal stuff.

If MF Ghost did light the flame for other mangaka to try something of their own there could still be a chance. Magazines will still be hesitant with serializing anything /o/ just because of how niche it is now compared to just a decade ago.
Everything recent was either axed or forced to end early. Picrel was one of those but the artist hasn't given up yet.
