See Gawain (along with his brothers Agravain, Gareth, and Mordred. Yes, in the legend, Gawain's mom is Morgause) is the son of King Lot of Orkney, Gwenevere's brother and thus Gawain is Arthur's nephew. This is important because Gawain as a result probably spent a lot of time among the monastic order in Orkney (which if you don't know is up in the very northmost part of Scotland, Gawain and his siblings are the Scottish members of the Round Table), and the Orkney monks were by all accounts strict vegetarians if not outright vegans for religious reasons. So it actually is not a stretch for someone raised in that environment to pick up on their eating habits.

Anon is right in the sense that as predators, humanity is unmatched. Shiki(Especially with his predator theme) killing Arc is like the concept of man preying on the planet being played out. And that's possibly the thing with his ability being 天敵. It doesn't really matter that it's not always easy since it still enables the potentiality of Shiki realizing that inconceivable event. "Infinite" if it refers to the TA is basically the inverse here. It's a problem all the time until the right conditions are fulfilled.
