Not that pitch accent is bad, it's just that it's nothing to bother with.
I always find it funny if someone tries to "impress" with his pitch accent, but looks still foreign. Especially as a foreigner you don't have to bother with it and even in Japan the pitch accent is different depending on region.

Just look at the US accents. Look for example at Texas, New York, and Commifornia. Do you really care how they speak? If you understand them, everything is fine. And Japanese dialects are even easier, because the words have the same kana, so even if you fuck it up, literally everyone can simply understand you through the context, as long as you know the words.

One fun fact: Even if you are 100 % Nipponjin with 1000 times folded Japanese perfect pitch accent, you will always have moments where another 100 % glorious Nipponjon of the most glorious samurai class will ask you "て何?"

The problem with the Japanese language is simply that there are much less combination possibilities than than in English. The moment you start talking about a scientific topic, you will always have words that are exactly spoken like non related words.

You even have Nipponjin on YouTube who ask random other Nipponjin to write certain Kanji and most don't even understand which Kanji the Nipponjin talks about and ask "Can you tell me the English word?" and only then the Nipponjin knows which Kanji the other Nipponjin means.

For example if a Nipponjin asks

It can mean 両, 亮, 量, 料, and so much more and they basically sound the same.
Pitch accent is a stylistic choice and nothing else and is semantically empty in a linguistical sense of importance.

But all those "teachers" who want to get money from gaijins who simply don't spend enough time learning new vocabulary and grammar would make zero $ if they would say the obvious.
Sure, those teachers could say "Just learn more vacubulary and grammar and you are good to go.", but it's much easier to say "It's totally your sneed accent and not that you only know like 1000 words instead of like 30k to be fully fluent."

The main problem is that ever since starting mining, I really hate using other people's cards because they take so much longer in the new card queue, so I'd be using that deck but turning them into my own format. This obviously takes quite a while (lollmao just get off djt and go make them lmao). If I wasn't so particular about this, it probably wouldn't be that much of a problem to add an extra month/2 months of cards and smash them out.

I mean that I like to look at the material and then put it into my own sentence card using one of the examples they provide while keeping the explanation very simple for easy repping. I'd argue that the natural side of it has more to do with the methods used, if you learn through crude comprehensible input directed to complete beginners you shouldn't feel like it's unnatural and it's not that you're wrong but exponentiality is a very specific thing, if learning a word takes you 10m the next time it's going to take you 5m, then 2.5m and so on, it's just impossible, but you will learn quicker and feel it's easier the more you do
