A tengu with a hermit? How do the parents species react to the offspring? Does the offspring retain their parents qualities? Can a celestial have babies with a youkai, or is their poisonous essence too strong for that?

Mythological fae are very conceptually different to Touhou fairies, they're actually much closer in actions and function to Touhou youkai down to being strange spiritual creatures who operate under different rules, are typically helpful to the polite and harmful to the rude, and who can be beneficial protectors if appeased or harmful monsters if scorned.

It would work if they were from the outside world, but Gensokyo dudes realize that youkai exist and that they always try to interfere in everything. In fact assuming they would even let a girl try her hand at sumo in the first place is very out of place since they are all aware what youkai are what they can do. The entire contest would end the second Kogasa would ask if she can join, they'd either get angry at her and shun her, give up on their fun and walk away or run away and call Reimu, depends on the individual. Just look at how the villagers were during HM.
