Sugoi is the best ocr I've been able to find for pixel fonts, but it's an absolute piece of shit made by a skid. Half the time when I launch it, it doesn't even work.
The main reason it's good is that it has smoothing functions bult in that you can tune per game. You could do something similar yourself, and try feeding that into a more normal ocr program, but it's a pretty big pain in the ass.

it depends where you are reading it. if it's in a scientific paper then it will always be written in katakana because that's the standard way of writing animal/plant names.

I always increase my card counts to cover anything I've mined the same day or the day after. Studying gives you diminishing returns, but they don't diminish all that quickly, and if you don't have evocative memories of the cards you've mined, then they might as well be JLPT flashcards.
Learning 20 words in one day vs my standard 10 usually only drops my retention rate by ~3%, which isn't a big deal.
I would honestly just delete all your old mined cards, though. They aren't going to give the same benefits of mining bc they're super old.

no I started to mine because to smoothly acquire vocab from texts it's good to have enough basic vocab to understand a good part of what you read. or in other words the sentences must be approaching n+1. if there are too many unknowns in each sentence, focus gets diffused between them and it's harder to acquire stuff, or at the very least it's less pleasant. the alternative is starting with textbooks or shit for preschoolers, but if the choice is between reading supremely boring shit and doing anki, I'd rather just do anki.
and I continue to mine because 10-20 minutes of anki a day remains enjoyable and keeps me disciplined.

I know I do daily :

About 15 min of duo lingo
About 45 min of Anki
About 30 min of Wani Kani + Kanji app
About 1 hour of structured class (Busuu before, Udemy now)
At least 30 min of immersion

So that's 3 hours per day minimum on average. I started last March so roughly 210 days time 3 hours a day = 630 hours.

being on djt and studying japanese is really starting to stress me out and i don't know what to do about it. i haven't studied japanese for about 6 months now. everytime i want to start i get stressed out: it's as if i'm choking.

i've studied japanese for 2.5 years almost every day and today i found out i barely passed my jlpt n5 so i decided to pick up learning japanese again. however when i read about others who passed their n5 after a couple of months of study it feels like i'm choking! i also have no idea what to study next which causes that choking feeling to become even stronger. has anyone ever experienced the same thing? how do i stop this feeling? i want to study japanese so bad but i have no idea where to start anymore... should i just quit? thinking about quiting also gives me this choking feeling but will that make it stop by not thinking about it anymore?

i was just explaining this to an uppercaser the other day that you can make a chunk out of the i stem of a verb + the subordinate clause which is why tai can have both が and を. but he disagreed because "grammarians" and "the dictionary" (who?) said that ga can mark the direct object sometimes.
