A part of me wants to say to count me in, but another wonders whether that would be a sign of an unhealthy relationship. Yukari is strong and powerful, but she can also get tired, and likely needs to be taken care of from time to time. Oh, these are wonderful thoughts. I hope for the day I will begin to be able to see these scenes in dreams.
Don't get me wrong, imagining them is lovely, and I gladly welcome more ideas, but sometimes these thoughts feel more distant than I would like.
But, continuing with that, after getting home, I can see taking Yukari's hand as she grabs onto one's arm, and going to the kitchen with her to help her with cooking. Sharing such activities, even if mundane, would be wonderful by her side.
Depending on whether one is in the Yakumo residence or somewhere else, Chen and Ran could also be there.

You know, I hadn't thought of it that way. I admit I sometimes feel bad because I feel my imagination isn't good enough, that I can not see her or others I love as much as I could, but I feel encouraged by your words, and optimistic that it can still improve. Even if I can only have few thoughts of her now, I think it is those few that bind us closer together, in a way. Indeed, the more I think of it, the less distant she and the rest of Gensokyo will become. Moreover, I think this applies to all other Anons. They, too, can grow closer to it, even if the bond is weak at first.

This does sound like a dream life. There is no need for anything extravagant (which still can happen, but that is not the point), but for peace, love and stability that can make a fun and fulfilling life.

Just today, I was also thinking travelling with her would be fun. Yukari likes trains, of course, so I am sure she would love the idea of taking one for a trip, or perhaps just to admire the scenery and see where it takes her. Accompanying her in this would be fun.

Yes, she does like to observe people she's interested in from time to time, but surely she does not invade their privacy. Yukari is a respectful lady, after all, and she knows there are boundaries (I mean, she literally is the youkai of boundaries! She would know!)

It was all a game. Yukari knew beforehand how it was going to end. She is smart, and would have had no problem estimating the Lunarians' forces and capabilities. She knew no one would be harmed, even with the chemical weapons (with which she wanted to spice things up a little, not harm anyone).

Yukari doesn't actually bother killing anyone, she's too damn lazy. The bitch has eldritch powers but would rather sic the shrine maiden on whichever poor soul that decides to escape their humanity, or attempt to escape the hellscape that is gensokyo, than do any sort of action herself.

Gensokyo is basically a human farm for all intents and purposes. The human village is like a prison camp, except instead of being subject to just generational forced labour and the like you're relegated to a hamlet with all of the other poor souls around you, forbidden from escaping under threat of death by Rumia or Reimu deciding to end you if you become a youkai.

There is no reason or benefit whatsoever for youkai to eat humans, and it's not like the human village is unescapable, either. You can choose Marisa's path to become a magician, or, I mean, I think even Reimu would agree to being some sort of mentor if you manage to convince her of something like you will reduce her workload or bring in money for the shrine by helping to reduce incidents, enabling her to be lazy.

It's not a hard retcon, but the tone of the setting with printworks is drastically darker. We see that Fortune Teller considered Gensokyo bad enough compared to the Outside World that he'd become a youkai to try and escape his station, and in LE we see the villagers generally aren't very happy with their situation, and at least some are aware that they're fear cattle, in effect. Kanako's response when Miko brings up the status quo is also incredibly dismissive of the ethical implications when she compares the Human Village to a Zoo.
The PCB Prologue technically isn't retconned, as we don't know which iteration of the Hakurei Mikos Reimu is, but it can be inferred that the villagers are, while descended from monster hunters, nowhere near as capable as their ancestors.

Another Anon about a month ago compared Touhou to "a comedy about dictatorship, written from the perspective of the dictators," and given the emphasis on subjectivism in ZUN's works as indicated by CoSD and the last few chapters of FS, he clearly considers it just fine, even if anyone that has multiple brain cells can see the human village doesn't have it all that good in practice for all their minor luxuries.

ZUN's true feelings on Gensokyo are hard to say. I think he's definitely started portraying it as way less positive around Synopsium. But even before that he made it pretty clear that your average outsider had a low survival rate and this was very much by design. Unless he just really hates neets and suicidal people, not entirely impossible, I doubt Gensokyo was ever actually meant to be a 100% paradise.

In principle I agree with the latter, but certain interviews very much do make it feel like he genuinely believes it's somehow ideal in at least one way or another.

The human villagers actually seem smarter, on average, than the majority of the named characters, when I mentioned room temperature IQ, I meant stuff like Yukari's plan involving using herself as bait against someone who could one-shot her whom she'd already antagonized previously, the entirety of FDS, and the fact that very few people actually saw through Kasen's cover story in spite of it being really, really flimsy.

The youkai being socially immature bit is, ironically, largely due to their own power. They're mostly womanchildren who never had to learn about personal boundaries and respect because they could just strongarm others into getting their way. Someone in another thread put it best in saying that the majority of the residents could use a father figure. I'd even take that a step further and genuinely liken a lot of their problems to what we see from real world daddy issues.

To be honest, it surprises me how many characters have stated goals that, nominally, should directly conflict with the status quo of Gensokyo. Byakuren's desire for coexistence, Hecatia's dislike of authoritarians, Kanako's aim of becoming a god of technological progress in order to regain relevance Outside the Barrier. Really it all ends up boiling down to ZUN being a hack at the end of the day.

Rather than competence, I'd say her bigger issue is her kowtowing to the status quo and general unwillingness to rock the boat at all. That said, from her dream self's dialogue in AoCF, along with her motive for seeking immortality, it can be assumed that this is due to her being exceptionally dependent on others emotionally.

I've done some terrible thing in my life, said some depraved stuff and I stand by it all in the name of 2hags. I've seen 'em all, from Eirin's lonely and unused moonpussy finally bringing her the satisfaction she's been looking for all her life without knowing, Yuuka's psychotic hole be used to tame the beast inside her to become a loving wife and mother, even to Gappy's special gap be used to cure her terminal autism that prevented her from having any real meaningful friends. I love hags. I *LOVE* hags. I don't care that they're all horrible, awful people who don't seem deserving of love, to me that's most of the appeal. I would bulldoze an orphanage to make one of these ancient ladies smile for a second, I would commit atrocities that would make ted bundy vomit on the spot just to get a quiet giggle from a mature youkai like Yukari. I would wager my own life just to have the slightest chance of charisma breaking one of these permavirgins with a bear hug + kiss on the forehead combo.
You may look at me and say "Gee anonymous, you sure are a weirdo. Don't you know they're eldritch monsters who eat people?" I do. I love them all the more for it. I wouldn't have it any other way. Just thinking about how I am fundamentally powerless to prevent them from doing as they please to me makes me all the more enamoured with them. I walk a fine line between certain horrific death and being an irrelevant loser who will never have Youkai Wife. One misstep, one slip of the tongue and I will burn in agony for eternity as Eiki throws me into the lake of fire for daring to court someone so above my caste. I care not.
If you would not do the same, do you really love them? Or do you just want a mother figure to pay for your NEETdom?

Goku would only get involved if he sees youkai being dicks in front of him. He wouldn't go genocide them proactively because while he does have a strong sense of morals, he's not much of a hero.
It's more likely that he would pop in, fight some strong youkai, get disappointed, and leave after encouraging Cirno to train harder, thus setting in motion a chain of events that sends Gensokyo towards a new ice age.
