The story begins with you getting recruited to a powerful slavery organization. Whether you joined willingly or were recruited against your will is up to your roleplaying. The Phantom Society does both.
Pretty much every NPC will assume that you are an evil slaver based on that, but many of them have routes where you can convince them that you are a good person who was forced into your current situation (and can then either follow through on that or backstab them).
It is possible to win the game without ever receiving a single slave, although in practice this will mean missing out on a lot of the games content.
The story of the game is fundamentally about being put into a bad situation and overcoming it, and the ethical problems you face along the way are a part of that. Is it better to enslave someone and treat them well, or allow them to be enslaved by an unknown party who may treat them awfully? Is it fair to enslave other slavers, or is that just enforcing an evil cycle?
The freedom you have to make these kind of decisions depends on how much agency you can create for yourself with your skill as a player. Ultimately I think the "pure" run is to play well enough that you can survive without compromising your principles, whatever they may be.

Each event has its own unique trigger. You might need a certain combination of characters on your team, be a subordinate in an entirely separate country from a character, have them in a certain fall state, have them on your team but not ever talk to them and have it randomly trigger, conquer all but one of their territories while they are ruler, have a certain special faction enabled, etc. Your best bet is to just check the event files. Also most events aren't sex related.

What is the most event intensive era- game? I tried EraMegaten almost a year ago and it was definitely gameplay inclined. There were very few events overall even if NTR being included. If you're looking for Paradox style random events, K probably has the most, but it's still not what I'd call significant, you'll see nearly everything in a few hours and some repeats. If it's just a problem of the sex system getting stale, TW has unique interactions with many characters to spice it up, and SumireTeru is very heavily story focused, but it's all the same gameplay loop in the end.

TW interactions are present in training mode only... because the whole game happens in training mode, in a similar way to how Megaten's RPG takes place entirely within what is normally the shop mode. It's thoroughly disguised as a dating sim, but you can still see the core era structure if you know what to look for. This means that almost all of the content is one on one between you and a girl, integrated into training. There are no tycoon aspects or larger scale events, it's all dating sim.
I'd say they have far more weight than K events, because the best characters in TW add much more to the experience than the best characters in K (or Megaten). As I mentioned, "training" is the whole game, and all of the content is condensed there, making dialogue feel integral to the characters even if they don't actually have more raw lines. Everyone wandering around in an open world rather than being in a list of "owned" characters you can just forget about after they fall goes a long way to making character interactions more meaningful as well. It's a double-edged sword though, there are so many characters that the writing quality and quantity varies wildly, and weak characters in TW also have more impact on the experience than in K.

Sure back when the game was just a trainer, but the game only gets a meaning when the characters feel different then the lines of txt they are. Like since we're on it, would you really care about a character if they didn't talk at all, were cardboard cutouts with no personality in Rune Factory? Sure the design gets you in, but the personality sells the character, without it I wouldn't care about them, it's mainly why the first game sucked so much.

And not everyone is going to be a megafan who has "finished" every Rune Factory game like me, most of the peeps that would play it would only have played like one of them at best. It's entirely possible that they'd find a new waifu in a character they would've never met, something that would impossible with nothing to back up the cardboard they're talking to. To add a character, you'll have to write a csv for them; then go to _Rename.csv and add their character number like this:
0000 , キャラ:anon
To add them in a dungeon use
CALL ADD_NEW_COMPANION, 0000, 500
CFLAG:0000:戦闘参加不可能 = -1
in the dungeon file. The 500 is the initial favorability, and the other line is to prevent them from being designated non-combatants by default.
Check Build Your Own Waifu.txt for proper instructions on how to structure the csv.
