Honestly at this point half the time it's just the same guys making high volume shitposts while a game is technically being played at the same time. And I wouldn't want it any other way.

I'm gonna spend tomorrow making a DM arena for Arma II from one of the core maps, since that's what we seem to enjoy the most.
Might host it again through the week to try it out, might be too lazy too
As much as RJW was fun, the desyncs from the shitty networking are such a pain in the ass that I don't like playing it all that much anymore.
It's random whether or not it decides to just work or be so bad that I have to do everything for everyone else, like combat and firefighting since apparantly the RNG wasn't synched up.
Smart fucking move, although I couldn't have even made that.

honestly not a bad idea, memes aside it's a great game to play when you know you're playing with like-minded retards
>>44247776
Vintage story which can be summarized as minecraft but with a higher ESRB rating and significantly more autism.
It got hosted every so often and progress is gradually made, but the game's progress ends at steel and in the version we played there was nothing much else to do with the regular 7-10 people we got. Next time it will be hosted is probably when the 1.19 update comes out since that's pretty close and has more content to chew on this time around.
The problem with long term games is that they we don't have the dedicated population for it. The overall theming if anything, is that the games we play are arcade-like and short, and you can tell that by just most of the games we played.
The current fad is Rimworld multiplayer, but it's hard to add new players because it's a chucked and fucked mod for a single player game with a porn mod slapped on top because it was the only one that allowed players to exclusively have their own character. As far as I know playercount dropped due to game performance being about as stable as morrowind on a chinese xbox, the occasional funny business happening to anons 2hus, and some went to singleplayer and cant be arsed to change around the modlist and config for multiplayer. IIRC the idea is to play until they make the ship and clear the game or burn out.
Otherwise a decent variety comes and goes. Racing games like skydrift and ballisticng. Source games like Sven Co-op and L4D2, Gmod and TF2 were suggested but we haven't played them yet. Older shooters like Serious Sam and DOOM was played, Hideous Destructor came up a couple times as an option. Touhou Diablo was a thing for a bit. 2hu GTA-SA was a rare event that was very memorable. An anon from /vm/ comes around every once in a while to shill his Ragnarok online server. I can't remember if anyone brought up playing Age of Ethanol. Basically we're up to play mostly anything so long as it has multiplayer no harder to set up than port forwarding and direct connect IP, is cheap or free, and 2hu content or mods exists but this is not a requirement. Another anon is hosting tournaments for soku, PoFV, and other touhou fightan games in a different thread.
In terms of thread health, we are as close to a general as you could get without actually being a general and we are thankfully devoid of namefags and drama. While you do see the same anons in games and hosting, it typically stays within the games and anons in threads are as identifiable as far as which 2hu they waifufag for. Shitposting is a given since we want to talk about the things that happen in games and there are rarely games in the middle of the week. While there is a little /v/ cross contamination it's whatever; it's a thread about video games, it's like asking does a bear shit in the woods.

>> No.44248464

>>44247981
I mean, a lotta people in the games identify by who they waifufag for as well.

Oh, and we got ArmA II working fine. It's a lot more stable than either VS or RJW was/is. Gonna see if there are any mods i think are neat before doing anything other than DM rounds I think though.

Man I was really fucking tired when I wrote all this.

I've started work on the DM map, I'll get the fussy enjoyer to post the instructions for getting A2 working ̷s̷i̷n̷c̷e̷ ̷I̷ ̷h̷a̷v̷e̷ ̷n̷o̷ ̷i̷d̷e̷a̷ ̷w̷h̷a̷t̷ ̷I̷'̷m̷ ̷d̷o̷i̷n̷g̷ since he is the one who actually did it all anyway.
I'll host it quickly once I'm reasonably confident it's playable, and just add more stuff when and if I feel like it.
To everyone but the two guys who dicked around yesterday with it, it's the airfield on map Chernarus, and I'm gonna try and have 8 different spawns and a mix of rifles, machineguns, and marksman rifles.
Gonna try and make the good shit hard to get to, but no promises.
If there are any resources or suggestions you'd like to share, please do so. I'm not experienced in this so it's gonna probably come out rough.

You'll need a keygen for CO/Operation Arrowhead and a set of patched .exe's to use multiplayer, unfortunately I lost the catbox to them before I thought to save them.
The game's master server got shut down years ago, so you need to patch in a new one.
Specifically openspy, and you can either use a hex editor to patch it manually from a steam guide or wait for the fussy enjoyer to post the catbox to the prepatched .exe's.

Apparantly direct connect still works, but no one found it so... Let's maybe forget about that.

Now https://files.catbox.moe/18dqjv.zip generate an OA key (NOT a regular ArmA 2 one) with the keygen, then use the keychanger to replace your current key.

It looks like the steam version won't work, since we are using a patched .exe for MP.
If you figured out how to get DC working, that's be cool, but you'd probably* be fine just copying over your game files to a new dir, and swapping out the .exe's there.

*As in, I have no clue if that works or not, but since we're swapping out the .exe's for cracked patched versions anyway I see no reason for it to not work in particular.

If not, just download it over the night or something. It's not like it takes up that much bandwidth.

You will have to replace the .exe files regardless. As for the key, I have no idea, but since you actually own the game your key should be valid already, so skip that part of the guide.

We're using an openspy master server, the base game will either use Gamespy or Steam servers, depending on if BI decided to update it or not.

That's why we changed them? Since the Gamespy server shut down years ago and that is what broke multiplayer on non-steam versions? And we found a method to patch in a new one?

Whatever, you did the thing. I don't want to have to think about what you think you did.

>> No.44251502

At this point I am extremely confused by what you are saying. All I did was use the .exe's that were provided above with the steam version on OA and it changed the server browser to have the gamespy logo and not use the steam servers. Are you trying to tell me I should see something else or am I supposed to be using
normal Arma2?

>> No.44251546

>>44251502
If you replaced the .exe's with the ones provided then you're good to go. Don't worry about it.

>> No.44251565

>>44251502
No, you did what you were supposed to, but I don't think you understand exactly what you just did.
The gamespy logo is wrong, don't pay attention to it, we're using openspy instead which just requires the game to look for a different IP. The different .exe's are prepatched for you to use and do exactly that.
You said that you were using Gamespy .exe's >>44251317<< here which is what the GOG download comes with, and I lost track and assumed you hadn't patched them.
Steam version will be looking in the wrong place for our server, since we are using the openspy master server which is what handles the serverlist.
The game is still being hosted on my computer, but it'll check in with the central openspy server to advertise it's existence and handle connections.
This is why direct connect will / would still work, since that's just connecting to my IP without the middleman, who won't know that there is anything there since it never got told about it since the game is only expecting one master server to exist that it should check.

TL/DR, you did it, ignore what the game tells you.

I wanted to host TF2 but it didn't really pan out how I wanted it to, like 90% of the touhou FF2 content is locked behind a single Korean server and judging by their steam group description they don't really give away server content for free, there is like 8 2hu bosses I on Allied gamers but that felt to little, and i personally think the Touhou fortress 2 models are ugly, even the updated ones. I also tried to use model manager with the models I downloaded from the Korean server as well as some others I found, but couldn't really get it to work? maybe I just don't have enough autism to understand these 13 year old guides, bummer since I really really wanted tf2 to work.
Anyways next week Saturday (since people are planning stuff for this Saturday) i will be hosting Extreme Football Throwdown on Garry's mod, you people seriously have no idea how fun this game mode is if you have not played it before, I'll throw some more details next week. and If everything goes well I will use this server to host other gmod stuff in the future.
