I think how viable they are depends more on skill level vs character level. Using them against the Act 2 final boss made the difference between winning and losing a battle of attrition because I couldn't do enough damage to overcome it's healing/regeneration.

New player here also. I did die a lot in the beginning, and found that just getting some better DV/PV and HP helped. You can take the feat that gives more HP, and find some better armor. It doesn't seem like a really big deal to die a lot at the start though. You don't lose very much in the grand scheme at that point.

For tweaks, I think the only one I enabled was to disable the thirst mechanic, but honestly I think it's fine to play with that enabled.

For graphics settings, increasing the DPI scaling helps make the UI larger and more readable.

To get some easy early levels, gold, and platinum, just do board missions. I did extermination missions, trade missions, and sometimes deliveries.

if you are aiming to clear the game fast...
a. book of aur tehom- shadow guardians. extremly strong and dont require much gardening. watch your sanity levels tough.
b. necromancy - another way to get pets to do the fighting for you, much higher rate than your actual pets
c. hiring adventurers. money is power, go to an informer, find the highest level adventurer in the continent, hire them and zoom in lesimas.

The arrow spammer exile is coming along nicely.

I intentionally go to high levels (currently in the 223. level of the void) and let her spam her thing.
Every time she dies I resurrect her and feed her with herbed fried tofu.
I have only bumped up her level once with gene engeneering from 8 to 16 when i gave her carpentry from a hand type monster.

I'd say it was worth the investments.

First thing i do on a new toon is to head to Yowyn, learn gardening and weightlifting while doing harvest quest. Harvesting trains will con and learning (not the actual gardening skill, don't ask how that works...) while weightlifting trains strenght. the enemies are weak and can train your pet or stealth if you are into that.

Anyway the first few levels should not be about fighting. Do not let Lomias trick you to do that with the first 3 slimes! After all he's the creep who tricked you into eating a homeless person!

Gear gives casting penalty, warmage negates that at some extent but at most it's only enough for either dual wielding or medium armor
Your armor class (light/medium/heavy) is determined by your total equip weight (check it at the bottom of equip screen), stick to light/medium (personally I recommend light)

You can tame a stronger pet but the lower they start the higher their ini stat will be. the lower an ini stat is the better they gain AP that can be spent in act 2.

alraunia - alraune is famous flower monster, so alraunia train charisma. it also trains learning, but no one cares about that stat.

I thought I should give you anons an update on how my Exile behaves that I trained to have actual elemental arrow spells, some buffs and elemental scar.

Her Ai consists of buffing up then unleashing arrows depending on the condition of the target. She usually starts with 3 bolts of hydro fang, It usually kills small fries (doing between 50-80k outside the void)
If the enemy survives that or is already wet her next move is elemental scar which is a gamble. If the enemy is resistant to curses she might be trying to curse the target for quite a while. I wish the 14th line of the AI could be [if target = boss use magic dart] I'd move it up if there would be an option there.
After that she stacks up 2 more debuffs. wince for more damage done and chill for less damage taken.

All in all It's a pretty nice glass cannon that can probably steal the show and kill me if it gets brainwashed. Those occasions didn't occur yet but I expect it.

Any advice for how I can make her recognize curse or elemental resistance would be nice, but I won't hold my breath.

Put a "Self Status = Brainwash" line in there. I used to use Holy Shield for it, so that if the wife got brainwashed she'd start flashing and making noise to let me know I needed to hug her.

Not an easy jury-rig. I can think of three possible conditions you could try adding off the top of my head: caster MP% (the idea being that you'd only try it a few times at the start of a fight), target HP% (attempting to guess whether or not something is a boss based on how much damage the initial Hydro Fang did), or just making it random (the recently-added "Percent Chance" option).

Two more things: You could put, e.g., "Self MP < 10%: Move (Away)" near the top to prevent overcasting entirely rather than only checking for the healing spell, and I think the range cap is 5 rather than 7. I might be misunderstanding your design there and/or misremembering the range limit, so if I am just ignore my half-asleep ramblings.

Welp, tested an Arena farming strategy, and it honestly wasn't that bad of a grind, especially compared to much worse grinds the game can throw at you.

Yes, they increase the same counter towards the fabled 100, so you get 2 per day, but each city's Arena has its own counter track

I don't use any car, i walk to let time pass during travel

The flow was actually very smooth, i could mindlessly do it with no downtime (except the occasional map encounters and sleep).

This basically means that every 50 in-game days you reach the 100th victory three times, which translated to:

>3 Treasure Maps
>6 Astral Pens
You get these every 50th victory, an unexpected but VERY welcome surprise

Been dumping feats to get life up a bit to be able to take at least a couple blows... I can easily handle most normal mobs so far but some bandit boss or stuff summoned from books just rip n' tear my poor fairy

keeping means i just dont clean it after getting it. im not trying for specific ones.
but yeah, savescumming, tough i think there is anti savescumming measure so even if you dring a cursed cure curroption right after you load, it will take awhile for the sympttom to appear.

Besides getting ones you want there's also the issue of getting rid of unwanted ones gained later without getting rid of the ones you want to keep since it's random.

there is a fusion recipe for an item that only clears 1 curroption instead of 2
or you could just keep unwanted curruption untill your next curroption and THEN get rid of them.
