The original Onisarashi manga had story by Ryukishi07 (this references the story outline though, not actual final script), but not the console expansions, Someutsushi and Kageboushi. Note that R07 even wrote the script for Higurashi Daybreak Kai that featured Natsumi as a character.

Yoigoshi is also a Ryukishi07 story, but yet again, the manga version, so no Miyuki and the Satoshi-lookalike is the main character rather than the reporter.

In the manga, it's just Hinamizawa Syndrome. She does seem to have much bigger delusions than anyone else though, imagining a completely false alternate scenario, rather than just "coloring" reality.

In the console VN, it's actually a psychotic outbreak due to placil, an experimental medicine she takes since childhood that mutes her feelings but taking it too much leads to mental breakdown, developing a 2nd personality with the person's hidden impulses.

The console arcs actually say that Rena was suffering from that during her episode in her previous school (it's the pill she takes in a flashback in the original VN that she talks about not feeling well after taking it), not Hinamizawa Syndrome, and the "Oyashiro-sama" she saw was just her split personality and desires, wanting to return to Hinamizawa, not Hanyuu (this is used due to the lore from some extra material, including the R07 written Kokoroiyashi, about Hanyuu being unable to leave beyond a certain area around Hinamizawa/Okinomiya, which clearly creates a plothole with Rena's backstory).

So what exactly is Hanyuu in the context of the original VN arcs? Rika said Hanyuu and her tribe came to Onigafuchi because they could no longer live where they lived before. What does that mean?

She also said Hanyuu took on a human form to interact with the villagers, but couldn't hide her horns. Does that mean the onis really looked monstrous and inhuman? And there's an implication that she descended upon the humans, as if the onis didn't have a physical form to begin with and had to create one with their powers.

There's also their relation to the parasites and the fact that many villagers went fucking nuts, possibly from possession.

So the onis were a manifestation of the parasites? Or incorporeal 5D beings? Aliens? Why were they looking especifically for a swamp in order to survive? And why did their presence drive people mad?

I thought the implication from Rika's description was they were dimensional travelers, which is pretty much the route taken by the console writers for Kotohogushi.

The actual main canon was never very clear on Hanyuu's nature. R07 has said twice recently he might actually go into it in Ciconia. Although if that happens, I doubt it will fit well with what was described in Matsuribayashi.

From R07 himself, you have the explanation from Outbreak/Kamikashimashi, where "Hanyuu" is actually the collective consciousness of the Hinamizawa Syndrome virus. The virus itself is "her people". She's also treated by Tamura as a foreign invader who just appeared out of nowhere one day (Tamurahime here being a similar existence, the collective consciousness of the virus responsible for the standard Japanese identity as opposed to Hinamizawa). But Outbreak/Kamikashimashi is a world where Hifumi's theory was right and all human divisions are caused by different types of parasite viruses influencing people's brains. In fact, the actual reason his research was suppressed was because it had been discovered before and used as excuse for the holocaust.

Outside of R07, you have the elaboration on the Matsuribayashi origin from Kotohogushi. Hanyuu's people were from an alternate dimension that was breaking down and could use technology to "phase" into Earth, but it happened too quickly and most couldn't get full bodies, and rushed incomplete transfers eventually led to craziness. But they learned a solution, it could be stabilized if they merged with humans, this led to many of them fusing with humans. If they fused with babies the result generally was fine, but fusing with teenagers and older people still resulted in psychotic breakdowns - basically Hinamizawa Syndrome's origin being these people from other dimension.

The prime minister came up with a damage control plan and made it seem like he was drunk and unavailable during the gas disaster (as seen in chapter 3), but it was all to pass up the secret operation as a blunder, an incompetent reaction to a natural disaster.

Nomura's client planned to eventually blackmail the prime minister after getting him to authorize this supposedly secret coverup operation.

I also had the theory that Keiichi spend to long digging the first hole, that he completely forgot he had improvised a new hole after the murder, and stupidly went to dig up the original hole instead.

If they are in an assembly line and this girl is Satoko, the brother in front of her should have the number 3104 (Sa-To-Shi). The number that comes immediately before 3105 (Sa-To-Ko).

On top of that, Satoko and Miyao look kind of similar. In the Gou anime, there's a scene where Satoko makes the same exact smug facial expression as Blueyao. You can put both side by side and it's the same face, seen from the same angle.

I think Miyao is a program, that's what they kept saying. Which means a clone of Satoshi's mind was put in his sister's brain before she got hooked to the matrix. This is exactly what Jestress did when she incarnated as Satoko after setting up Takano as her piece. She lost her memories of being a "witch" and became a normal schoolgirl.

According to Eua, Jestress had been wandering the sea of fragments for a mind-numbingly long time, so erasing her memory and becoming Satoko was the only possible solution. Featherine/Eua is probably the matrix version of Seshat after the A3W matrix is destroyed and everyone is free from the dystopia and can wander the matrix multiverse at will.
