The funny thing is, most people on /jp/ refer to drawfriends as, well, drawfriends. If /jp/ was ever to get mods, /bun/ would no longer have a purpose. But getting back to the point, I just think they did it wrong. When a new community is being formed you don't go around giving out bans as if they grew on trees. The first priority should have been to attract users. Believe it or not but some of us would rather have a shitty board with decent activity rather than a perfect board with no activity. Some spammers deserved a ban. I wont argue that. But there were a lot of misplaced bans on /bun/. You're thinking, "they're just bans, what's the problem?" The problem was that with each ban a reputation of authority was being formed.

This is NOT the Brady Bunch. /jp/ is not a collection of nice people. Some times I enjoy arguing with Suigin for hours over which Touhou can beat another Touhou. While arguing we tend to exchange insults -- just to spice things up a bit. Thanks to /bun/'s reputation, I wouldn't feel comfortable having such a debate (or debates in general) on /bun/. If I wanted a tight-assed community I would be on pooshlmer right now.

I used to joke about 4chan not having moderation, but never before in my years on 4chan have I seen it this bad. And believe it or not, it's not their fault. On any given night their ban request query can have 2 to 3 thousand ban request on it. They are out numbered. And now the shitposters have finally caught wind of this. The reason you're seeing spam, /v/, dailydose, and /b/ threads is because there are no punishments for misbehavior. This is what board anarchy looks like. /jp/ is old-old /b/.

In a sticky, moot said he was going to do something about this after he got done dealing with the spam. Let's make sure he keeps his word. I believe if we emailed moot about this it might actually accomplish something. 4chan needs 10 more local janitors for each board and 40 more global moderators.

I believe there exist such a thing as board culture. Since you're not a fan of Touhou I presume you've never been to pooshlmer. Say what you want about their board, but they have inherited certain posting habits from 2ch that 4chan missed out on. For instance, they know what sage means. You'll never hear: "sage this shit" on pooshlmer. They know how to condense their threads. (Even more so than the idol friends on /jp/.) I once made a request thread and someone posted in my thread telling me to delete it and post it in the giant (existing) request thread. And because of stuff like that, pooshlmer looks less polluted and more organized than /jp/. How did it get like that you ask?

Try posting among them for a few minutes and the second you step out of line someone will kindly instruct you on what you did wrong. (Therefore preventing the problem from reoccurring.) I believe our ability to spread such culture is important for improving our community in the long run. On /b/ there are no veterans shaping the culture; consequently, /b/'s culture is shaped by newcomers. Even something as mundane as using mediafire instead of using rapidshare is too hard for /a/, /b/, and /v/ to grasp. Without peer pressure and guidelines, they'll keep (naively) using rapidshare.
