/egg/ — Era Games General; also known as “Era games thread”
Era games are a group of (usually) Japanese-developed text porn games.
They’re not exclusively related to the Touhou franchise, but it’s one of the series with the most era games.

▶How to play?
Run anchor.exe (or Emuera, depending on the game), Japanese locale is advised so you don’t run into untranslated text.
If you wish to manually update, delete old files aside the sav and dat folders to avoid any bugs.

▶Tips
If you’d like to either edit or add your own portraits, the files are located within the ‘resources’ folder in webp format. You can use paint.net to edit them.

If you want a vanilla dating game simulator TohoTW is the one. Usualy the second game most people start with.
If you want to conquer gensokyo by raping the hus into submission in your sex dungeon (or end up getting raped or outright executed if you fuck up) then TohoK. Often the first game played by many, pic related is an example of what kind of content awaits (you) if that's your wish.
If you want to go deep end, full autism, time consuming, mind breaking difficulty dungeon, then Megaten is for you. Games is so often updated on the jap side that the percentage of translated content is going down intead of up.
Also well know for devouring RAM.

No but seriously 8 ram is why I got on my laptop too with windows 10, and it works ok with akumamaid which is also RAM consuming but not as much as megaten so I can't realy be certain. Hopefully someone else here with linux can answer your question.

God knows if these will be gone too, but fuck it. So the features. First, there was an effort to make the update process as painless as possible. A regular player just wants to get it over with quickly, choose between new pics and get the flags updated, maybe tweak some options for their waifu later. That's what every other era game does, but not here. No, here it was a massive chore.
But now you can choose if you want to see alt dialogue prompts or not, if you want to tweak characters settings or not, with an option to tweak them at any time from a character profile page picrel. This took a bit because I had to edit every single update function from the dialogue to make them use the new format, but I think it's worth it.
Overall, it already lessens the amount of time you have to click at least by a dozen and takes only a few seconds. You can still do the old-fashioned in-depth update if you want. Go check it out, the dev branch is updated now. Not ready for a release, but it's playable.

Translations: The dreaded New Plan lines are all complete now. It's a feature many people aren't aware of, but there's actually a bathhouse in Old Hell where you can get a girl to wash you (with bonus included if you know what I mean), but it's locked behind NG+. It's not a massive feature, but the goblin of an attendant made it tricky because of its very thick and ugly dialect that was hard to work with. But Ratnik (the only respectable rat out there btw, follow his example ffs) told me it was a Nagoya Dialect, and once I cracked it - it was no big deal. And so, the even that stayed untranslated for almost 3 years has been fully completed and mostly playtested. It's one of those things that had some unfortunate oversights that I had to correct, like the girl's room actually not counting as bath so she couldn't even do the signature foam play, shameful.
The mob's dialogue is next, and that will be handled soon as well.
Oh and of course, the gust of wind event is all done, it was okay. Reminds me of Artificial Academy where a patch added a similar event, the OGs probably know. Shout out to OGs.

There were a bunch of other minor changes/fixes as well, mostly things that Anons reported, like the Sex Ed event making the girl angery if she had prior orgasm experience (likely from random exp generator). As for plans, the highlight of this update supposed to be a revised hate mark date forgiveness event. Almost every dialogue has some lines for that, but you barely get to see them because it's handled so poorly. I have a few ideas, plus some new achievements in store that would make the entire hate mark thing a bit more tolerable.
Speaking of achievements, how do achievements for learning special recipes sound? You always wanted to cook meals that can restore thick semen again, right? It'll take a bit more effort on your part as a cook, but it'll work as it used to.
Lastly, there were two JP patches that improved upon Logging and Danmaku, neither of them adapted. I think it's a missed opportunity, so I'll take it upon myself to port them in. The improved danmaku in particular makes every fight last a lot longer, but it's kind of an RNG fest from what I've gathered, but I guess it's a good attempt for now. The Danmaku thing is optional though, choose it at your own risk. I still like the KR take on Danmaku more, but that will have to wait.

I assume fishing, trapping, gardening, and foraging ingredients should stock most things, but is there any major food category I missed? We got our fruits and veggies, our bugs, our meat and birds, our fish, our shrooms and wild veggies, and our peaches. No, cum is not a major food category, it's an additive. I recommend Persona user. You can have a Persona with busted resistances and also use the best armor you have purely for stats. Might be biased cause picrel is how my runs usually get.

There's sweetener for the desserts, you just have to buy that. Miyoi and Mystia have jobs to help with the grind a bit. If you want to unlock recipes get them to around level 5 intimacy or so and guide them to a kitchen and select the option for them to show you how to cook it. There's a list in the sleep menu showing you all the recipes and how many you've learned.

I get a crash every time I try and go to a different region, starting after I moved my stuff around.
I've tried redownloading, but to no avail.
The only thing I haven't tried is not using my save file, but it's got like three years on it and I don't want to have to redo it all.

You can set whatever size you want and even give it negative starting positions by edirting the emuera config file directly. Mind the encoding, it's Shift-JIS and if you save it with a different one you're likely to corrupt it. I use VSCode for it.

Can you clarify this? The sav folder is the only thing that would need to be copied to a new installation, from what I know. Like what the other person said, running update on a fresh installation should fix it. Also, latest release, or latest download from source code?
