You know what? To hell with major remakes, everything is perfect the way it is. Kind of wish that there were voices, though. Listening to the Alliance and End drama CDs along with reading the scenes they corresponded to was intensive stuff.

Oh god, I forgot about that, Ohara's BATORRAAAAA. Was absolutely chilling. The way it resounded and echoed out made it have that much more of an impact.

Alright, so while the doujin Beato does an excellent job, she can't beat Ohara in that department. My favourite out of the doujin seiyuu are Battler, Ange, Bernkastel, Lambda, and (surprisingly) Maria. Dlanor was wonderful as well, but she has nobody we can compare her to.

And guys, you know what the truly tragic thing is? I'm sure that DEEN actually intended the anime to turn out so differently from what they originally planned. Like, look at the character sheets. We get to Gaap/Lambda troll face, and there are several other character facial expressions which were never even made. Dreamenddischarger on the soundtrack. A lot of stuff keeps adding up, and I really wonder where they went wrong.

Oh, and speaking of chain, it's a decent character song and everything, but Golden Nocturne shits all over it.

General plot for Umineko Chiru (DEEN edition):

- Battler kills Beatrice and joins Bernie's side
- Bernie grants both Battler and Erika detective rights
- Virgilia's former title of Beatrice is given back to her and challenges Bernie's side
- Erika and Battler eventually solve the mystery and kill fantasy side once for all
- Back on the island, everyone makes it out A-OK and the culprit is arrested

>well what can I say. I’ve ranted about VN readers enough, and how much better a format anime is, so I’m not going to repeat myself. This series was the one I enjoyed and looked forward to the most during 2009. There were shows with deeper themes, stronger characters and more moving storylines, but in my opinion Umineko had more entertainment value than any of them. It was intelligent, complex and left me thinking every single episode. Sure, it was a bit rushed, and the reasons for that have all been layed out here before. But ultimately, that did little to detract from my enjoyment of Umineko. I recognize that there are fans of the VN unsatisfied with Umineko the Anime, but they seem to be the only ones. Most anime-only fans have had mostly positive things to say about this series. An adaptation is always going to have choices to make about what to change, what to leave the same, how to conduct the pacing, etc. A fan of the original can always find things to complain about in an adaptation (except in a few rare adaptations that have source material which seems to be written with adaptation in mind, making the pacing perfect for a normal length series). And ultimately, an adaptation has to stand or fall on its own merits, and the director of that adaptation has no obligation to the source material, beyond creating an adaptation that satisfies as an independent entity. Umineko has accomplished this, because as I’ve pointed out, to those of us who havent read the VN, this series was extremely enjoyable. How it compares to the source material is ultimately entirely irrelevant, and if that disturbs you, then quit watching adaptations and leave them for those of us who can appreciate them as they stand.

The 5 to 6 one is fine imo.

The 4 to 5 jump is a little jarring for those who didn't realize Battler was hesitating and Beato had to call his sister a slut for him to start attack her. Not to mention all of the shit that went down in EP3--he jumped at every opportunity that showed Beato wasn't really all that bad.
