Never been in Spain, but it's a commonly known fact that Spaniards like Touhou. Spaniards love Touhou. Spaniards are absolutely, autistically obsessed with Touhou, and have been since the dawn of man. The entirety of Spain's history was motivated by Touhou, one way or the other. The Spanish Inquisition? Secret larping society to chase out secondaries.The discovery of America? They were actually trying to reach Gensokyo (this was before the barrier, mind you). The Francoist dictatorship? Everybody knows Franco was a massive Touhou fan and that the entire thing was somehow an overly complicated reference to lunarians. The biggest thing, however, is that Gensokyo has always been in Spain. Every single 2hu has Spanish citizenship. Japan is not even a real country, but a psyop so you don't realize it was Spain all along. All of Europe as well. The entire world while we are at it. Everything is a huge Spanish Touhou reference, and none of you ever noticed. Pathetic.

Never in my entire life in this shithole have i ever heard or seen any mention or reference to touhou, not even from anime watchers/gacha players or any other similar type of person that could had interest into it. What i have seen is a that there is a very small(honestly i have maybe seen 1 or 2) amount of YouTube channels, let alone big channels, that actually have spanish subtitles for touhou content. The vast majority, if not all, of spanish speaking people that got into touhou made it through english content and that makes it a small amount, because speaking fluid english there is unsurprisingly not that common. I myself love touhou at least

I think that's just the reality that Touhou fans are an extremely vocal minority in the west. It's funny because I've never seen such a drastic discrepancy between online content and irl presence. If you went by the amount of Touhou shit you see on the internet, or at least as it was years ago, you'd think Touhou fans everywhere make up like 10% of the entire population or something lol. But you're right that even for Spain standards the number of Spanish fans seems oddly low. I wonder how many of us there even are at all.

I think a lot of people that watch anime, read manga or play certain type of games recognize them, but being popular not really. Around 2007-2012 the games were known as hard games on youtube like the unfair platformer, IWBTG, etc and tons of people used the walfas doing shitty videos with them but most likely they didn't know those started as touhou fanart. This apply for both spain and latam

IRL? not so much, but stupidly huge online, specially with youngsters, like actual teenagers.
Believe me I made a Discord[/spoilers] server in hopes of finding other other old fans to hang and talk about new game releases with. Some kids come in and they told me that they also spoke spanish and could help me get more people in.
Ended up with a 500+ people server that had to be put down because there was a lot of silly FB tier shitposting and drama. Remember how I mentioned young people like it? well we had a problem with an actual pedo harassing people in the server and that was the straw the broke the camel's back and made me pull the plug. 2/10 wouldn't do it again

Spaniard anon here. Going from my experience a good chunk of spaniards into japanese culture have a bit of knowledge about touhou, as in knowing the names of the most popular characters, recognizing other popular characters as touhou characters even if they can't name them, knowing it's a game series and not an anime and maybe knowing a bit about the music. Finding someone that has played the games or read touhou manga is harder, but doable. Latinos are more vocal about touhou, some are cool and very involved in making fanworks, but most are the kind of people that post stuff like "tenshi masochist cirno the strongest awoo". They are also prone to translating stuff while having absolutely no translation skills (for example, translating "it can't be helped" as "no puede ser ayudado"). I think a large part of the difference comes from touhou fans in latin America being way younger than fans from Spain, the few older latinos I know that like touhou are nice.
