I finally finished the tsukihime remake's arcueid route. God damn it was great.

Hearing the OST of the original game pop up made me giddy, it was faithful to the original arc route and the extra scenes like Arc getting all giddy before fighting Roa thanks to Shiki's confession.

I did not remember Arc dying to Roa being this sad though.

It's amazing. Good taste. Glad you liked it. It's even better with the added elements and the fated angle with the dream stuff. I think it may not have been so sad in the original for some people because it was harder to recognize that Arc's actions were all for naught and that she died in her final attack. I've seen many a person not realize that her final move basically used up the remains of her power and from that point on she was just depleted and not recognizing anything around her except for Shiki in the final moments. Makes the futility that Shiki feels come through really hard especially with the stellar acting from Shiki's VA. The way he's trying to gently lie to her about Roa being dead and being saved, the sense that he's lost everything and to not let her actions go to waste. Man...

It's a peculiar scene and the tendrils only serve to enhance the foreboding atmosphere. The manga has a weird panel when Roa questions Shiki's humanity. Lines shouldn't move but as he pushes himself and his vision blurs, the world itself melts away and all that's left behind is the world of death like the moon. Maybe Shiki overlayed reality with the boundary/death? Or it's showing the concept that everything in the world is linked and the theme of Tsukihime/KT where Shiki sees the world itself as something that can collapse at any moment. It is rather interesting what sort of unique thing is happening for him to be doing this.

Whatever happened with Roa was different and stemmed from Shiki. It's really just him breaking the rules and limitations of his own ability since the idea is that Roa possesses an unsurmountable advantage where Shiki is immobile and cannot reach him but Shiki somehow sees Roa as rooted in death along with the new lines that are formed with Shiki at the center. This results in a scenario where everything in front of Shiki is killed simultaneously. It wasn't Roa's PoV as we're told he couldn't sense anything. The only one who could see this was Shiki. You could argue the initial lines weren't really "moving" so much as Shiki was revealing the truth of the world and seeing more death but that doesn't explain what he did when new lines manifested out of the ether. They wouldn't have given such a new stylization and effect if it was literally nothing different.

I don't think the SHIKI at the end of Kagetsu Tohya was a future version, he's just the ghost of the real SHIKI without the inversion impulse that messed up his karma or whatever the explanation was.

So what is Roa's theory? What exactly he got right? Whatever it is it must be some pretty arcane knowledge that's unknown to even top magi.
This is also the only time Roa was so ecstatic. Despite all the craziness that goes on in Ciel's True at no point was he ever this excited. That would mean that was all stuff he either saw or knew of, which says a lot. That means what Arc did in this one scene was more impressive than almost anything that went on in Ciel's True.
The stuff Arc did was change the Order of the world by creating a different universe as the narration describes, reflected in the fact that magecraft formulas and Ether didn't exist so magecraft could not be enacted. This is apparently a major deal. It seems like the ability to ennact magecraft is such a fundamental aspect of the world that it's not something that can ever be changed, no matter what, it will always be present except in this one instance. That's why the narration describes Roa being trapped in a different universe; a different universe of awareness as CCC describes the concept.

Can someone explain Roa's intentions better for me? SHIKI hated Shiki because Shiki took away his family birthright. I think that's the simplest way of understanding the tension between them.
I just don't understand Roa's intentions very well. Was it just a ploy for Arc's power, like Nero, or was his intentions more complex. There's a lot of backstory with him and Arc I just don't get quite well because its much scattered in Tsukhime's universe than SHIKI's history. I'm talking about the pre-remake version of events. I haven't played the Remake yet, but its probably different. I want to play it when its completely done so I get the full story of that version of events.
And does Roa take over, instead of SHIKI, simply because his spirit;s will overpowers Shiki instead of SHIKI, or does Shiki's differing actions on that route trigger it?
Also a thought - if Shiki stayed with the Arimas - would anything have changed - would he have never fallen to his demon possession?

I find her inclusion as having more potential than the others even though I expected the least from her initially. Since she's sticking around the cast I hope they actually blend her in well so that she doesn't feel out of place. This modern day continuation of her tales is an interesting backdrop and she seems like she could have a place within the Hunter and Oni lore. She also has the imouto factor and the potential for an interesting dynamic with Shiki, Akiha and the Tohno house in general. So if Arc can summon a world without Ether it means she indeed summoned a different universe. ...Why would remake Roa care about what happens in the original. Use context clues I'm talking about normal remake Arc vs Luminous Body, she doesn't really gain a whole truly new ability it's just tuned up versions of shit she already did. Roa's already familiar with most of that so it makes sense he wouldn't be surprised by any of it. Cube, presumably, he's never been hit by before so it's new to him.

It's not a matter of raw power though. DB characters have never tanked the ability to get sent through time. That's a God-level ability by DBS's standards if you look at Whis' time manipulation, which pales in comparison to Aoko's.
