I'm watching Haibane Renmei.

Did it ever occur to you weeaboos, that rén mëi could be read in chinese as "beautiful people" while hai ba ne could be understood as "great number of people close to light". :3

fascinating

>> No.4277599

Except it's not in Chinese, so that thought is irrelevant.

how would you know? sure, writing is in kanji so it differs but it's just way too convinient to dismiss that name of that anime comes from chinese, don't you think?

on top of that, in japanese the title of show means nothing.

that + fitting title in chinese = I'm right

>> No.4277641

They do a lot of alternate kanji reading in that game, so it's probably intentional.

Enjoy your great show btw.

灰羽連盟
Sure looks like it means something to me.

Stop pulling things from your ass. Renmei is grammatically wrong and I can't think of how do you write haibane in your psuedo-Chinese.

not even /a/ would fall for it.

because it isn't translated as charcoal fether federation at all

hai ba ne
海巴氖

sure ren mei is backwards, but you could read it all backwards so that it would mean literally "beautiful people - bright light close to many people"

>> No.4277817

>>4277767
even if it did it would be nonsensical

>> No.4277831

>>4277817
it's what it means
Haibane: charcoal feathers
renmei- federation
just that easy and it makes sense because it's basically people with charcoal colored wings part of a greater federation of them

>> No.4277835

>>4277817
It does, and that isn't nonsensical. Are you even watching the show?

Just to be pedantic, it's not charcoal, it's ash (or simply grey). ABe apparently mixed up 灰 and 炭 when translating the title to English.

There was a weeaboo I knew who thought that Kanji were exclusively Japanese and would always bitch at people who told him it was Chinese. I kept silent since I'd rather let him find out for himself.

I think he took a class in moonspeak somewhere down the line, must have been a real eye-opener.
