Era games are a group of (usually) Japanese-developed text porn games.
They're not exclusively related to the Touhou franchise, but it's one of the series with most era games.

Run anchor.exe, japanese locale is advised so you don't run into untranslated text.
If you wish to manually update, delete old files aside the sav and dat folders to avoid any bugs.

You could try your hand at translating dialogue, there are guides currently in the TW folder (in #Translation) on what to do, not sure if it that folder exists in other games.
Another guide is:
1) Download an IDE. VS Code, for example.
1a) If using VS Code, install the EraBasic addon
2) Select UTF8 encoding
3) Open the ERB files and edit them
That way you can now edit files without much trouble.
The path for files to edit is usually the ERB folder:

TW: ERB\口上・メッセージ関連\個人口上

You can also report bugs or typos here on the thread when you see them.
If you'd like to either edit or add your own portraits, the files are located within the 'resources' folder in webp format. You can use paint.net to edit them

There's not really any way to do it quickly. You can get a decent boost if you're lucky and trigger a decent request, but other than that, it mostly raises gradually from actions like serve tea, headpats, and embrace, the latter two not being available until you've already build something of a relationship.
If you really want to build reliability continuously, you should consider studying with them, since that's a reliability-boosting command that can be spammed indefinitely (though it does have a high time cost, which can be reduced by using the peace of mind prayer/studying with suitable weather). If you mix relentless study sessions with tea, headpats, and hugs, you should have a decent reliability gain, though it'll still take a decent amount of days to reach the required levels.

There's a lot of dialogue and other text in this game that has spelling or grammar issues, or is just awkwardly worded, and could really use a tune-up. Unless i'm blind and actually there is a way to toggle it off in game or someone found a more efficient way to fix it, here's how to disable the background color change introduced in the japanese and Pedy's latest release regarding some bullshit about weather patch
You just need to delete some lines called "CALL SET_MAP_WEATHER_BGCOLOR" and you'll find them in the following files (i'm using the windows notepad to open the .ERB files and ctrl+f to locate them):
btw backup the original files

Alright, testing while on a completely fresh Windows 10 installation, everything looks to be working just fine, with the only issue being that the images weren't visible until I moved over the required part of the VC++ Redistributables.
Other than that, the game runs without issue with just the .NET installation that comes shipped with the OS.

I really don't know what else I could look at here. You might be able to reinstall .NET somehow, though I'm not sure how you'd manage that, as it looks to be fairly locked down. Forcing an install of .NET Framework 4.8.1 might help, and I've seen claims that installing Visual Studio forces a refresh, but I cannot guarantee any of that would work.

Probably, yeah. I can get 4.871 to run with a single error before the title screen if I copy the exe and libwebp from 4.861, but then I get an error that kills the game whenever a character image would show up.
By 4.872 I guess they made quite a lot of changes that depend on the new anchor, because trying the above gives me a big list of errors and it won't even let me get to the title screen.

About translations - the second generic pattern was done a while back (ladies), there were a few particulars like Garm and Cthulhu. As last time, things that aren't translated are some crossovers (source knowledge issue), volatile stuff that is likely to be rewritten and the sheer amount of dialogue files. I think I'll start working on the mature pattern in January if all goes well.
