Is the cut part of chapter 7 actually fully voiced? I've listened to all the lines with 7_1B in the name and there are all Soujuurou's lines, a single Aoko's line (as it should be) and even two Robin's lines that "translate" whatever he's chirping, which aren't in the script (wasn't that something that could be found in the script of PC version, I don't remember). But not a single Alice's line, unless they're labeled differently.

Since most if not all lines were recorded one seiyuu at a time separately from each other, I think it's a safe bet to assume that they were never recorded to begin with.
Also releated to that I find it really hard to believe that Nasu can afford to be present at all recording sessions for 2 months straight (and even longer for Tsuki), like it was stated in the previous thread. I think most of his guidance comes from the notes about specific lines that he wrote for VAs, and it's possible the lines for the cut content were recorded just by inertia without Nasu even knowing. I am admittedly fuzzy on the details and haven't read the latest interview yet.

Nasu really is ballsy to have chapter 6-8 not have an important goal in mind to have the characters focus on or worry about. It's pretty strange in such a short story. Guess I'm used to his stories that use a day structure over how ambigous the dates are for Mahoyo. It feels like a story that's more like a collection of stories than a more focused story like his older works. It's not bad, just different.

cut content gets voicelines translated and voiced all the time in video games. This is usually the case because devs can't be bothered removing them from the files for good and might even want to re-add them at a later date (see elden ring)

Tsukihime and Fate/Stay Night are absolutely kami so I'm not bashing them. However in the abstract, I prefer a generalized chapter format over having specific days. The later is a lot more constrained and you have to tie events more directly to each other. In contrast, just having free flowing chapters gives the author much more wiggle room to do whatever they want. That's why you can have a couple of chapters that don't directly relate to some grand plot thing and it's perfectly OK.

Whatever the secret behind Soujuurou's super is, it pretty clearly required exact placement and timing. It can vary depending on your hardware. I changed the renderer in Ryujinx from vulkan to opengl and that did the trick for me. I don't regret buying mahoyo because it is extremely rare for a VN to have the level of production values that mahoyo has, but yeah it wasn't very good. If anything mahoyo simply reminded me that nisiosin is a much more capable writer than nasu. picrel is literally orders of magnitude better than mahoyo. it takes the "naive mountain man" character and does vastly more interesting things with it than nasu could ever hope to achieve. mahoyo has some cool ideas, like all of nasu's works, but he just doesn't have the writing chops to turn those ideas into something greater than its parts.

Unironically go read, or watch, Katanagatari. It is a much better story.

Berserker x EMIYA served as a perfect setup for UBW. It didn't really reveal a lot and didn't distract too much from Fate route as it was not his route, but it built up on the intrigue of the servant for the future. That's also the reason as why the adaptation fight sucks. While I get that it's meant to be more of a standalone experience, thus it makes sense to show what happened, it then misses the point of the fight and what made it so memorable and special.

Fate is the first route and needed to set up lots of shit and world building, character introductions and etc. UBW and HF take advantage of all of that set up.

That's also why going into the VN after spoiling yourself just ruins it. It's meant to be experienced in a specific sequence with multiple buildups and reveals over time. Without the mystery element so much of what's being done just doesn't work.

I recently reread Fate and UBW but could not bring myself to finish HF after reading about half of the route. The reason behind this dilemma is because of how UBW does not necessarily "flow" into HF. Hear me out, Fate as a route is usually regarded as not necessarily bad, but more often or not, LACKLUSTER. It is a taste of the Fate universe that sets up so many things in the beginning, but ends up not truly resolving any of characters it introduces. You are given a glimpse of the servants and it leaves you wanting more. Thus, it is the perfect setup for UBW, which is more like an expansion of the Fate route rather than it's own separate thing.By the time you finish UBW, it is already a very satisfying journey you went through because nearly everything you wanted more of from Fate is resolved.

HF, on the other hand, is quite detached from the other two routes. It has to set up a new conflict that does mot really get any foreshadowing in the previous routes, and must establish these things on it's own. That's why the opening of HF feels so much weaker than UBW. It has to go through a Psuedo-Fate route, and by the time you reach the big bad conclusion, you are already exhausted.

Zouken and the Greater Grail comes literally from nowhere when you start HF with no foreshadowing
