They're not exclusively related to the Touhou franchise, but it's one of the series with most era games.

Run anchor.exe, japanese locale is advised so you don't run into untranslated text.
If you wish to manually update, delete old files aside the sav and dat folders to avoid any bugs.

You could try your hand at translating dialogue, there's guides currently in TW folder (in #Translation) on what to do, not sure if it that folder exists in other games.

Another guide is:
1) Download an IDE. VS Code, for example.
1a) If using VS Code, install the EraBasic addon
2) Select UTF8 encoding
3) Open the ERB files and edit them
That way you can now edit files without much trouble.
The path for files to edit is usually the ERB folder:

TW: ERB\口上・メッセージ関連\個人口上

You can also report bugs or typos when you see them.
If you'd like to either edit or add your own portraits for 2hus, the files are located within the 'resource' folder as webp. You can use paint.net to edit them.

I feel like most of them should be by fishing spots, I remember doing that as a kid. Maybe that one newhu's house since she's supposed to be like a miner. Considering that the new Soul Hackers 2 is based on Summoners of the Phantom Society, what sort of ideas could they pull from that for eraMegaten's purposes?

Personally I'd like to see an expanded COMP system where the COMPs are integrated into the weapon themselves, as a new sort of Summoner-side Successor system while redirecting the Successor trait to another class. One of the events (untranslated wall of text Event 65) refer to (You) and your Summoner opponents using 'GAMP's, which are pretty described as guns with COMPs integrated into it. Would make it fit the 'Summoner with Gunslinger' theme better, too. This is based on my perception of COMPs in eraMegaten being the traditional wristband-type, at least.

That wouldnt really be a SH2 themed expansion, if anything you're thinking of how SH1 handled comps where it could be integrated into pretty much anything, even a god damn saxophone. SH2 mostly just had GUMPs from what I hear. With that said, I prefer to just imagine my comp being whatever I feel like it should be, I wouldnt want the game taking that away from me.
I also dont entirely get what you mean by replacing the Successor trait, do you want a gun-equivalent trait of it for Summoners? If so I wouldnt really tie that into special comps, I'd just take inspiration from SJ with it's gun system, but then you have to figure out how to give skills to a class with no MP...

I keep seeing people in these threads saying "the devs should do this, the devs should do that". Era does *not* have devs, era has *contributors*. There is no patreon. There is no subscribestar. Nobody is getting paid a cent for their work on era games. Thus, there is no implication that the people who contribute should work on anything other than the things they personally want to work on.

Era is a completely open platform, and it only exists by the voluntary contributions of the community. If you as a player don't like a particular contribution, then fine. Disable it. Don't think of any dialogue in eragames as "canon", or as if it's required to cater to what you think is "normal". It's not. I do agree that it's annoying when there is only one dialogue option for a given character, and that dialogue doesn't fit the setting well (like Sumireko's) or it's bonerkill for you, but the solution there is to just disable it.

Meiling has a surprising amount of text, all translated. I'm pretty sure I remember seeing that she even has, specifically, dialogue for virginity loss following timestop rape. I'd say that Meiling actually has the most text out of all the SDM characters so far. As far as 'default' dialogues go,Remilia is probably the next character in SDM with the most text, probably followed by Sakuya and Koakuma. It's 'easy' from the perspective of 'if you are willing to code it in'. But if you were to start redefining a lot of things on the CSV trait set, you might as well end up with either a TW branch or an entirely new off-shoot. There seems to be a bug with the way consent for raw sex is stored:
I had miyoi at Lust with consent for raw sex in non dangerous days, but got her fertilized in one of those.
So I decided to make the little last push and got her to Love the following day, then I waited for her dangerous day (according to the calendar) and got her to push me down at 100%. The goal was getting full consent before she got truly pregnant, so she wouldn't get upset.

It's not up to me for anything regarding money, bringing money into this sounds like a bad idea and in a realistic sense that sounds like a nightmare - to hire an artist for lets say 120$ per character that does proper layering, gives up the actual work files and includes multiple clothing styles and a range of facial emotions for at least 50 characters, 100+ if we really want to capture EraToho (like we intend to) while at the same time pleasing most peoples tastes... on 4chan, that's just not a possibility with the current free-from workflow and volunteer force.

And realizing that... if someone got a serious problem with the direction of the project they should hop on and be the change they want to be cause that's already happening like with the peepeepoopoo meter and honestly please everyone is just a pitfall - take it or leave it.

It's not even something that needs fretted over right now. In the scheme of things the art is probably one of the least important things because you use your imagination to fill gaps anyway. Game has to exist first, and the only future proof that the art probably needs is that the images can be manually replaced by the player to suit their own tastes. Similar to choosing all of the character settings you'd pick normally in TW.
