I liked the maikaze anime, not much happened yes, but it was the first episode, it's supposed to be setup.

The animation may have been dodgy at times but the backgrounds (especially voile) were absolutely gorgeous, easily professional level.

Perhaps it helped that the sound holic anime had sent my expectations to the toilet, but it honestly surprised me in it's quality.

For you guys defending the maikaze episode, many of us that disliked it wasn't because the art was bad, soundtrack or the actors. In fact, I personally thought Reimu's voice was perfect. My main gripe with the anime is how they could have gotten the personalities of the characters so fucked up.

I mean, what the fuck how can you mess up Marisa? She is amongst the most mischievous characters of the series alongside Tewi and yet they make her resemble an old geezer. I couldn't swallow that. The plot is also shallow but I wasn't expecting something grand in the first place.

My problem with it was the pacing. It felt slower than something like Hidamari Sketch with a lot of empty pauses, and the fight scene didn't work at all.
