The Higurashi patch is pretty fucking generic, but I am still going to use it because Ryuukishi's art is just so TERRIBLE in Higurashi...but I'd rather not.

Since Umineko is a world better, It'd take a very good sprite patch for me to watch it.

Honestly, discussing about Umineko's art is the same about Zun's work in Touhou. Their works are certainly not the best and it can be said that they are bellow average, but they aren't so bad as to ruin the experience. In fact, both of the art styles are unique and only adds to the charm and experience of the product.

As others said before, even if a patch was available I would still continue to use the originals.
