No. Don't do any of the Heisig stuff. The pictographs and stories are useless, after 100 kanji you won't be able to keep them straight. Learn by rote, memorizing radicals and writing characters out until you can recognize them instantly. Get "A Guide to Reading & Writing Japanese" by Turtle. Kanji learner's dictionary is the next buy.
