Hello friends. I took a bit of a break after the last thread was pushed off the board, but I finally picked up the pencil again today and I plan continuing with my daily Touhou drawings. As you can see, I bought a sketchbook, so no more lined paper! I definitely feel a little rusty, but the sketch paper feels a whole lot better than the notebook paper. Anyways, here's Murasa. she's got a "dead fish" look. pupils are huge and cross eyed. plus the emotion on her face is quite tame, try exaggerating it just a bit next time. the pose isn't the worst I've seen but it's a little stiff. you would benefit a lot from studying the fundamentals. keep it up

I think the quality of this thread is overall a lot better than my previous drawings, give or take a few exceptions. I don't know though. I still feel like persevering, despite feeling discouraged.

Some drawings you make will be winners and some will be losers, sometimes you make a bunch of losers in a row. But overtime through practice and study your median of quality goes up. It's basically impossible to truly "regress" unless you don't care and just draw thoughtlessly, which you clearly aren't. You've only been doing this 37 days which is absolutely nothing in the grand scheme of things. There's nothing to worry about.

The reality is that it will take hundreds and hundreds of drawings and daily practice hours before you can even see noticeable improvement. Then more years of grinding anatomy, then grinding perspective, then grinding cloth physics, then grinding composition and years of grinding color theory and shading.

not sure how feasible it is for paper/pencil but first constructing the body out of simple forms can help get the proportion/perspective/pose right before you even commit to adding any detail.

doing some croquis every now and again can help with your grasp of figure and gesture, just remember you're doing it to learn and not necessarily make pretty pictures.
